Obituary………………… ROWLEY (TILLER), Caroline

Mrs. Caroline Tiller Rowley age 91, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2020, in Johns Creek, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Harold G. Rowley.

Caroline enjoyed a wonderful life as a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Caroline was born Sept. 5, 1928 in College Park, GA, to Julia H. Wells (Woodward) and Thomas W Tiller. She graduated from College Park High School class of '45 and then attended Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, GA. Caroline worked for the FAA where she met her husband Harold G. Rowley a Delta Airlines Pilot. She enjoyed traveling and singing in the choir as a member of College Park Methodist Church. While residing in East Point and Fayetteville, Caroline especially cherished her neighbors and "The Bridge Club Ladies" that gathered together for over 60 years. Her grandchildren lovingly called her "Little Lady" because of her grace and poise, and "Mere" slang for "come here" because when called, she always came running with open loving arms! She is survived by her children, Thomas William Rowley, Harold G Rowley III (Rip), Caroline Rowley Matheny (Rob), and Robin Rowley Payne (Mike), grandchildren, Taylor Matheny (Natalie), Matthew Matheny (Candice), Shannon Matheny Ogar (Kevin), Courtney Payne, Caroline Payne Washburn (Zach), Carti Payne, Michael Payne, great-grandchildren, Galvin Matheny.

The family wishes to thank Ms. M. Moran, Belmont Village, and Agape Hospice for their compassionate care. A private service and burial will be held at College Park Cemetery.

CAPTAIN HAROLD GARNER ROWLEY Retired Delta Airlines pilot died August 26, 2001. He was born in Birmingham, AL on July 27, 1920. Harold Rowley attended Birmingham Southern and served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He flew for Delta Airlines for 32 years beginning with the DC-3 and retiring as Captain on the L-1011. For the past forty-three years, he has resided in East Point, Georgia and Fairburn, Georgia. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Caroline Tiller Rowley; his sons, Tom W. Rowley, Douglasville and Harold (Rip) G. Rowley, III, Whitesburg; daughters, Caroline R. Matheny and her husband, Dr. Robert G. Matheny, Norcross, and Robin A. Payne and her husband, Peter Michael Payne, Jr., Alpharetta; grandchildren, Taylor Matheny, Matthew Matheny, Shannon Matheny, Courtney Payne, Caroline Payne, Carti Payne, and Peter Michael Payne, III; sister, Anne Rowley Finstad, Sarasota, FL; nephew, Maurice Olson, Los Angeles, CA; niece, Paula Finstad, Sarasota, FL. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 28, College Park First United Methodist Church, 2 p.m., In state, 1 p.m., Rev. James C. McRae, III and Rev. Ray King officiating. WA/DL Capt. Robert Allen Pinkston

USAF veteran, WA/DL Capt. Robert Allen Pinkston

February 19, 1938 ~ December 11, 2019

Notification with the passing of retired Western/Delta pilot Captain Robert Allen Pinkston, age 81.  Captain Pinkston joined Western Airlines 03-17-1969 and retired with Delta Air Lines, based 030/CVG.  He is survived by his wife Pat, his daughters and his grandchildren.

Obituary………………..Robert Allen Pinkston, better known by the names of Bob or Pink to his family & friends, age 81, of Cady township in Spring Valley, WI formerly of Bruneau, ID, passed away at home on Wednesday, December 11th, 2019.  He was born to parents George & Elsie on February 19th, 1938 in Wendall, Idaho. Bob was a man of many talents & passions; the big three being fast cars, guitars and airplanes.  He attended the University of Idaho- Moscow before becoming a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. Bob was proud of his time in the military, & he was honorably discharged as a Captain in 1969. While chasing his loves of speed & six-strings, Bob still found the time to chase the love of his life, Patricia Strickland. The pair were wed in Idaho in 1961. From there, he went on to become a commercial pilot for Western Airlines, & later Delta Airlines, from which he retired. Even though his work required him to be away from home, Bob always made sure he had a spare dime in his pocket so he could call his bride when he landed. As much as Bob loved speed, he truly loved Pat & their girls, Kelli & Karla. He will always be remembered as an adventurous & dedicated husband, dad, grandpa & friend.

Bob will remain in the hearts of his beloved wife, Pat; his daughters, Kelli Gordon & Karla Pinkston; his grandchildren, Alex & Maddie Gordon; as well as many extended relatives, friends, & his family at Living Waters Christian Fellowship in Ellsworth. He is preceded in death by his parents, George & Elsie. A Memorial Service for Robert will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 10th, 2020 at O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton St. Baldwin, WI, with a Visitation preceding the service from 1:00-2:00 PM.

Notification with the passing of RNPA member retired Northwest pilot Capt. John Francis Klescz, age 93.  Captain Klescz joined Northwest Airlines 06-14-1943.  Widowed in June of 2000 with the passing of his wife Delphine, Captain Klescz is survived by his daughter plus many other friends and family members.

Obituary……………. Klescz, John F.

John, age 93, passed away on March 1, 2020. John was born December 1, 1926 in St. Wendel, MN to August and Mary Klescz. He proudly served in the US Navy during World War II. During his 40 year career at Northwest Airlines he advanced from mechanic to crew chief, flight engineer, pilot and finally captain before retiring in 1987. After retirement he discovered his talent and passion for creating beautiful wood carvings. Fishing was also a joy (when he was lucky!). He volunteered at Bridging for many years where they welcomed his incredible handyman talents and skills. He loved watching the birds, deer and other wildlife from his kitchen table and enjoyed visits from friends and family, sharing stories.

John was preceded in death by wife, Delphine, son Rob and sisters Esther, Mary and Alma. He is survived by his daughter, Sheri, son-in-law Al, beloved granddaughter, Shelby, sisters Delores and Martha plus many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM with visitation one hour prior and luncheon to follow service on Thursday, March 19th at Church Of St. Edward, 9401 Nesbitt Avenue South, Bloomington, MN 55437.

Subject: NWA Captain Ray Welker

With profound respect I must inform you that NWA Captain Ray Welker, age 87 passed away on December 3, 2019. Ray was born on Sept 28, 1932 in Lumberton, NC to Dan and Katherine Welker. He grew up in Lumberton and studied Electrical Engineering at North Carolina State University for three years before entering the Naval Aviation Cadet Program. Ray served for four and a half years active duty stationed much of that time at Beeville, Texas.

He left the Navy in 1958 to go to work for Northwest Orient Airlines on May 23, 1958. During his 34 year airline career Ray was based in Minneapolis, Honolulu, and Seattle. He was type rated on the Boeing 707/B720, B727, B747 (classic), and McDonald Douglas DC-10. In September 1992 he reached mandatory retirement and thereafter moved to Sun Lakes, AZ, where he resided until his final move to Woodinville, WA in 2019.

In 1959, during his early years working for NWA, he met and married his first wife Sandra Long. Their marriage produced three children; Andrea, Greg, and Melissa. Ray was divorced from Sandra in the late ‘70s. In 1980 he married Lois Groesbeck. Lois was his golf and bridge partner for 39 years.

During his free time Ray enjoyed boating, fishing, and golf, but his true passion was being a pilot.

Ray is survived by his wife Lois; his half-sister Jill Englebretson; his three children Andrea Welker; Greg Welker, and Melissa Matkin and four step-children: Teale Groesbeck, Cindy Crivelli, Kelie Groesbeck, and Paul Groesbeck; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Obituary………. Martin Alan Schneider of Atlanta, passed away on March 7, 2020.

He was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 27th 1944 and grew up in Roslyn, NY. After attending Hofstra University and Queens College, Marty began his aviation career in the Air Force. He was stationed in Selma, Alabama at Craig Air Force Base where he was a trainer on the T-38. Upon discharge, he moved to Atlanta with the intent of flying for Delta Airlines. He was hired by Delta in 1976 and continued on with them as a pilot and instructor until his retirement as Captain in 2004.

He loved flying, and continued on as a private pilot after his retirement. Loved as husband, grandfather, father, son, brother, and friend, Marty was the quiet caretaker of us all. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marge and Aaron, and his brother Stuart. He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Ann, his daughter Christine, granddaughter Josie Miller, daughter Jenny Shoemaker (Brad), grandchildren Vivian and Jett, as well as his brother Brian (Donna), sister Iris (Paul Feldman), and many nieces and nephews.

He will be truly missed by us all and by the many people that he called friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Paideia School, The Ashford Park School Education Foundation, or The Kittredge Magnet School Foundation. Services will be held at the chapel of Dressler’s Jewish Funeral Care (3742 Chamblee Dunwoody Road, Atlanta 30341) on Wednesday, March 11, 2020.
