Henry J Wnuk, CDR, USNavy (ret), 77, Fallon, NV, passed away May 9 at the Life Care Health facility in Reno, NV from complications related to a stroke he had seven months earlier. Henry fought a gallant fight but the mental and physical obstacles proved too much to overcome.

Behind his humble and easy-going demeanor was a lifetime of notable achievements. After he graduated from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute with a BS degree, Henry enlisted in the Naval Aviation Officer Training School followed by Undergraduate Pilot Training where he earned the coveted gold wings of a Naval Aviator. Henry was a Command Pilot on the P-3 Orion, a multi-engine, turbo prop maritime and surveillance aircraft for most of his 23-year career but also served as an Aviation Safety Officer, Air Traffic Control Officer, Squadron Executive Officer and Detachment Officer-in-Charge. His duty locations included NAS Agana, Pautaxent River, Point Magu and NAS Fallon. After retiring from the Navy, Henry was hired by Northwest Airlines and flew wide-body commercial aircraft such as the B-757 and DC-10 to domestic and international destinations for twelve years.

Henry lived life to the fullest. An avid skier, outdoorsman and Harley rider, Henry made nearly forty trips to motorcycle rallies in Sturgis, SD, alone during his lifetime. He was a devoted son, dependable brother and loyal friend who was loved by many and will be missed by many more. A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 29, 1:00 pm at Walton’s Sierra Chapel, 875 W Second Street, Reno, NV.

Gregory Edwin Jordahl

Highlands Ranch CO

Gregory Edwin Jordahl, age 63, passed into the arms of his Savior with his loving family at his side on April 5, 2025, after a long and valiant fight against pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer.

Greg was born January 16, 1962, the youngest child of Stanley and Joyce (Rosengren) Jordahl. He spent his childhood in Richfield, MN, graduating high school in 1982. He went on to attend Normandale Community College followed by the University of Minnesota where he graduated in 1986 with a degree in Aviation Business. Following his love of flying, he joined the U.S. Navy, entering AOCS at Pensacola, FL in May 1986. Greg excelled in the Navy, graduating first in his class in AOCS and in every training squadron he served with. He rose to the rank of Lieutenant Commander before retirement.

Marrying the love of his life, Amy, on July 18, 1987, the couple started the adventure that was their lives together. In true military fashion they moved frequently, relying on each other during every time of change. During active-duty, Greg and Amy spent time in Pensacola, FL, Corpus Christi, TX, and Jacksonville, FL before they welcomed their first child Katie in1988. After moving to a new base in Brunswick, ME, Danielle joined the family in 1990. Their final active-duty relocation brought them to Whidbey Island, WA where Ellen completed the family in 1995.

After leaving active duty, the family moved on to Reynoldsburg, OH where Greg was employed with Executive Jet until he got the call for his dream job: flying for Northwest Airlines! This relocated the family one final time in 2001 back to where it all started - Minnesota. Here Greg and Amy lived out on the lake and watched their girls grow up and move west one by one. They stayed in that house on the lake until Greg's illness encouraged a move to the Denver, CO area in 2022 for care from a top neuroendocrine team. Admittedly, having the grandkids so close was a bonus.

As a person, Greg was one of a kind! He was brave, strong, brilliant, incredibly loving, and could fix any item you brought him. A man of faith and an American hero who loved God, his family, his country. He loved his friends and family with wholehearted ferocity. His wife, girls, and grandchildren were his priority and his joy.

Greg is survived by his wife of 38 years, Amy; their daughters Katie (Nathan) Jastram of Colorado, Danielle (Zachary Bryant) Jordahl of Washington and Ellen (Jeffrey Bateman) Jordahl of Alaska; his self-described bonus daughters: Alyssa (Dalton)Miller and Gesa Wilden; and grandchildren Tessa and Alexander Jastram. He is also survived by a brother Stan (Betsy) Jordahl, a sister Leah (George) Shetka, mother-in-law Carole Bakken, brother-in-law Don (Ultra) Bakken, sister-in-law Ruth (John Conley) Bakken, nieces, nephews and friends.

Greg was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, stepfather, an infant brother and sister Valerie.

Funeral services are June 2, 2025, at 12:30pm at Horan and McConaty, with military commitment ceremony at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 2:15pm. A reception will follow at 4:30pm at the Highlands Ranch Senior Center.

In lieu of flowers, etc. please send any memorials in Greg's name to The Healing Net Foundation. Donations to this foundation will be used to research this rare cancer Greg fought so bravely.

It is with deep sadness and great love that we announce that Steven (Steve) Edwin Milam of Dacula, Georgia, traded his captain wings for angel wings on May 22, 2025, at the age of 63. In the spring of 2023, Steve was unexpectedly diagnosed with aggressive esophageal cancer, which he faced with remarkable strength and bravery. Steve lived a full and meaningful life, defined by his strong work ethic, endless knowledge, and unwavering commitment to—and generosity for—those he loved.

He is survived by his wife, Krista (Tooley) Milam; his two children, Jordan and Jonathan Milam; his mother, Peggy Ann Milam; his father, Larry Jean Milam; and several beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Michelle (Milam) Davis, and his grandparents, Charles and Virginia Whitmore, and Quentin and Marie Milam.

Steve grew up in Atlanta, GA, and Charlotte, NC, graduating from Myers Park High School in 1980. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1987. From a young age, Steve knew he wanted to be a pilot. He pursued that dream, beginning his career at American Eagle Airlines in November of 1987 before joining Delta Air Lines in May of 1997. There, he flew a 727 as a flight engineer, and six months later became a first officer on an MD88, 757, and A321. Ten years later, he fulfilled his dream of becoming a captain on the MD88 and A321. Steve took early retirement in 2023 following his cancer diagnosis. His dedication and love for aviation inspired many and provided a wonderful life for his family. Each time we look to the sky and see an airplane, may we be reminded of Steve and his lifelong passion for flying.

Steve’s interests were many and varied. The NFL, NASCAR, and golf were constants on the television, but he was always ready for a laugh—or a tear—when America’s Got Talent aired. The sounds of Pink Floyd and Rush often filled his home, and he had countless stories from the concerts he attended. Steve loved adventure, always leading his family to be first in line for the tallest rollercoasters at every amusement park. He found joy in being near the water, whether boating at Lake Lanier or diving into a pool. And no pet was ever left behind—Steve had a deep, abiding love for animals.

Although it was difficult for him to say goodbye to loved ones in the end, Steve found peace knowing he was going to a place free of pain. He leaves behind countless treasured memories and was deeply grateful for the love and support he received throughout his cancer battle. Steve will be greatly missed and forever loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A celebration of Steve’s life will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel & Gardens in Buford, Georgia. An additional celebration of life will be held in Owensboro, Kentucky, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the

Esophageal Cancer Action Network ( https://ecan.org/give-the-gift-of-hope/ )

or Furkids, a no-kill animal shelter in Atlanta ( https://furkids.org/donation ).

William Callaway Obituary

William Edward Callaway, Jr. (Bill), 88, passed away on May 17, 2025. Bill was born in Danville, Virginia on January 13, 1937, to William Edward and Mary Elizabeth Callaway.

Bill graduated from Dreher High School in Columbia, SC, and then went to preparatory school in Washington DC before entering the United States Naval Academy in 1956. Upon his graduation from the Academy and pilot training, he flew C-130's for the United States Navy for five years. Following his Naval service, Bill flew and trained pilots for Delta Air Lines for over 30 years, retiring in 1997.

After his graduation from the Naval Academy, he married Marla Jean (Jeanie) Morrison Callaway (deceased), and they had three children: Elizabeth (Lisa) Callaway, William Edward (Bill) Callaway, III (Karen) and Richard Jackson (Jack) Callaway.

Some years later, Bill married Carol Awtrey Garrison and added two sons, David Merrill Garrison (deceased) and Jeffrey Holt Garrison (Jennie) to complete a very large family indeed.

Bill was dedicated to his family, his church and his community. He managed to play a lot of golf with some good friends as well.

He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Marietta where he served as both a Deacon and an Elder. He taught Sunday School and was on a variety of committees, always favoring the tasks that featured those in need of food. Thankfully he did not sing in the church choir!

In the community, Bill was always active in the Rotary Club. He was a member of the Marietta Club and then a charter member of the of the Marietta Metro Club, where he served on many committees and was president. He lived the Rotary's Four Way Test.

Even with a large family, Bill engineered trips for the family to ski, to St. Simons, to the family retreat at Tall But Trees for summer camp and to hunt and to fish. When it wasn't deer or turkey season, there was always the "Hog Killin" to attend or armadillo to slay.

Bill was predeceased in his death by his parents, his first wife, his sister Betty Harden, his son David Garrison and his grandson Holt Garrison. He is survived by his wife, four children, twelve grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and much-loved nieces and nephews.

The family wants to thank the wonderful staff at Arbor Terrace at Burnt Hickory and Trinity Hospice for their amazing care.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 2:00 at the First Presbyterian Church of Marietta. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 form 4-6 PM at Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral home, 180 Church St, Marietta. Robert Brooks “Bob” Blanchard

Pilot, Family Man, Storyteller

Retired Delta 737 captain and Hughes Aircraft Company engineer, Robert Brooks “Bob” Blanchard Sr., 85, of Manhattan Beach died at home on May 14.

Bob was born Aug. 22, 1939 in Kenansville, N.C. to Oscar Charles and Laura Brooks Blanchard. He grew up in Wallace, N.C., graduating from Wallace-Rose Hill High School and NC State University, with a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering.

He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force through the AFROTC and joined the USAF as a pilot, ultimately flying the F-102 Deuce in fighter interceptor missions out of Misawa, Japan in the mid-1960s. He later flew the F-104 Starfighter at Eglin Air Force Base.

Upon leaving active duty, he had two careers—27 years as an engineer at Hughes Aircraft Co. and 30 years as a pilot for Western Airlines, which eventually became Delta. At Hughes, he worked on a number of breakthrough airborne systems, including heads-up displays that are now standard on 737 and 787 aircraft. For the airlines, he served as scheduling committee chair and helped computerize the pilot schedule bidding process. He also served as a pilot representative for two contract negotiations.

Bob was a man of many adventures who never lost his love for flying—traveling often to his beloved Topsail Island, NC, and throughout the Americas and the world, including Africa, China, and Europe. He loved sharing good times with family and friends. An enthusiastic storyteller, he is remembered as someone who never met a stranger. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

Bob is survived by his wife, Lynn; children Sabrina, Judson and Dana; nephew Jarrod, and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Mary Jo, and son, Brooks.

A memorial service and reception will be held May 30, 2025 at noon at Journey of Faith church, 1243 Artesia Blvd., Manhattan Beach.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society or charity of your choice.

Maureen Helen Barrett Burns

Maureen Burns, loving mother and wife, devout Catholic with a radiant soul, died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. Maureen lived a life that touched many with her unwavering devotion to faith, family, and friends. She was 88 years old.

Born in Evanston IL, the only daughter of John and Catherine Neenan Barrett. She attended Marywood High School in Evanston before graduating from Barry College in Miami, Florida. Her life was forever changed when she met her beloved husband, Robert Burns, on a blind date. They were married on September 10, 1960, and shared a remarkable 65-year relationship. They eventually settled on Lake Minnetonka near Excelsior where they raised 4 children and entertained 5 grandchildren.

Maureen’s devotion to the Catholic Church was central to her life as a confident and faithful member at St. Therese in Deephaven and St. John the Baptist in Excelsior. She served in numerous roles including fundraising for St. John's Gathering Place building project and construction of Holy Family Catholic High School in Victoria, and founder of the BeFriender Ministry at St. John’s, a pastoral care mission providing trained, compassionate listeners to those navigating aging, illness, and grief. Maureen’s faith gave her confidence to Chair the Twin Cities Annual Catholic Appeal and St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary.

Throughout her life, Maureen had a passion for travel and adventure. Professionally, Maureen found joy from her three decades of work in the travel industry and led tour groups to see the world. She enjoyed countless travel adventures—often with Bob by her side— which took her through the Panama Canal, South America, Africa, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and across Europe. These journeys created lifelong friendships, treasured memories, and ultimately compelled her to join the International Federation of Women in Tourism.

At home, Maureen enjoyed swimming, sailing, painting, knitting, and social gatherings. Family and friends held a high priority for Maureen. She cherished Sunday night dinners, sunsets from the deck, and most of all, reunions with family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Robert Burns; children, Sheila Zats (Terry), Kevin Burns (Ada), Patricia Burns, and Kathleen Daniels (David); grandchildren, Jorge Burns, Kaily Burns, Melissa Burns, Lucia Zats and Shawna Zats; her brother, Bill Barrett (Kathleen), cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Catherine Barrett, and brothers, Patrick Barrett and James Barrett.

A celebration of life will be held at St. Therese Catholic Church in Deephaven on Tuesday, May 20th. Visitation 11:30-12:30. Mass at 12:30 with lunch to follow.
