Military veteran, DL Capt. Richard "Dick" Kane

April 18, 1941 ~ May 16, 2025

 


Richard “Dick” Edward Kane Jr., age 84, of Versailles, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025…….Dick joined Delta Air Lines 03-13-1970 and retired with Delta in 2000 based 030/CVG.  He is survived by his wife Carol, and by his children and their families.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 27th, at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 115 Paddock Drive, Versailles KY.

Richard Kane Obituary

Richard (Dick) Kane, 84, of Versailles, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025. He was born on April 18,1941 in Omaha, Nebraska to the late Richard and Helen Kane. Dick attended the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. He continued to serve the next seven years in the Navy, completing two tours of duty flying sea planes in the Vietnam War. Dick ended his Naval career as a flight instructor in Pensacola, Florida. He then went on to fly for Delta Airlines for 30 years and retired as a Captain in 2000. Dick is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Carol Kane, daughters Katie Smith (Brian), Ann Willenborg (Tim), Meg Ricklefs, and son, Richard Kane (Jill). Dick has ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Cathy Epatko (Vasil) and Virginia Zeller (Rick) and four nieces. Dick and Carol enjoyed camping, horseback riding, exploring the West and time on their beloved Horseshoe Bend Farm with their dogs and horses. Dick and Carol built the farm from the ground up as a place to enjoy and for family to gather. Horseshoe Bend Farm was truly his happy place and provided his family many wonderful memories. Dick was a strong, kind, devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and he will be truly missed. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27th, 2025 at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 115 Paddock Drive, Versailles, Kentucky 40383. Burial will follow the church services at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, 6980 Danville Road, Nicholasville, Kentucky 40356. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer's Association (ALZ.org)
