Neal Edward Waldron, was born in Tampa, Florida, on October 6, 1938, and died August 5, 2026, at age 87, at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach, Florida. He has been a long time resident of Spruce Creek Fly-In Community in Port Orange, Florida.

 

Neal graduated from Coral Gables High School in Miami and earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Miami. He married his high school sweetheart, Joanne Kathryn Price, on February 5, 1961. They moved to Arizona for US Air Force Flight Training School then to Travis Air Force Base near San Francisco, California. Neal flew C141s in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. Once 6 years completed and at the rank of Captain, Neal decided to make the transition to civilian life and be a commercial airline pilot back in their hometown of Miami, FL. He first started with National Airlines, then Pan Am where he flew the Press Charter flights for President Ronald Reagan and even got to meet President Reagan at the White House! After Pan Am he transferred to Delta Airlines which is the company he retired from. Neal's passion was flying and he owned many different private planes over the years and enjoyed flying and working on them. He obtained his A&P Mechanical Certification so he could do annual inspections for private planes.

 

Neal was a member of the VFW and EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association). He was a devout Christian and supported many Christian ministries, a few of which will be listed below.

 

Neal is preceded in death by his father, Ray Waldron, Mother, Merle Waldron, and brother, Don Waldron. He is survived by his loving wife Joanne Waldron of Port Orange, FL, daughter Kathryn Waldron Jacobs of Woodbridge, VA, daughter Carolyn Waldron Ciervo of Frederick, MD, sister, Barbara Reker of Miami, FL, 4 grandchildren, and 1 great-granddaughter.

 

Neal will be buried at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.

Vern Ray Cardon joined Western Airlines 05-14-1979 and retired with Delta Air Lines based SLC.  Vern is survived by his wife Mary Lynn “Bunny”, and by his children and their families.

Obituary

Vern Cardon, 81, of Nine Mile Falls, Washington, passed away on August 8, 2026. He was born in Logansport, Indiana, to William Harold Cardon and Geraldine Helen Cardon.

After World War II, Vern's family moved to Hamilton, Montana, eventually settling in Missoula, where he completed elementary and high school. He worked on his father's farm throughout his childhood, using his earnings to help fund his lifelong dream of becoming a pilot. He went on to graduate from the University of Montana in 1968.

It was in Missoula, at the Stop and Go drive-in on Highway 93, where Vern met the love of his life, Mary Lynn, known to everyone as "Bunny." The two married in 1968, beginning a partnership that would carry them across the country and through a lifetime of adventure.

Vern joined the United States Air Force, where he trained as a pilot in Del Rio, Texas — the same year his son, Jason, was born. He was later stationed at Travis Air Force Base flying C-141s, where his daughter, Jaime, was born. Over the course of his military career, Vern served in numerous conflicts, including Vietnam and Desert Storm, flying C-141s and later C-5s. He served ten years of active duty and twelve years in the reserves, retiring from the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Concurrent with his military reserve service, Vern joined Western Airlines, which later became Delta Air Lines, where he flew 737s for 24 years until his retirement as Captain.

In retirement, Vern and Bunny settled in Nine Mile Falls, Washington, where he pursued what he often called his biggest passion of all: his grandchildren. He would do anything for them, and in his eyes, they could do no wrong. He made it a point to attend every game, dance recital, gymnastics meet, and school event he possibly could, and always made sure his grandkids had everything they could possibly need. He cherished every moment spent with Kate, Andrew, Karley, Taylor, and Joe.

Vern's Catholic faith was a deep and guiding part of his life. He was baptized in 2006, and went on to become active in nearly every corner of parish life. He served as a Eucharistic minister and usher, and was a member of Assumption's Retired Men's Group. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and went on several pilgrimages as a follower of Christ. His faith was central to who he was.

Vern was preceded in death by his parents, William Harold Cardon and Geraldine Helen Cardon.

Vern is survived by his wife, Bunny; his son, Jason, and daughter-in-law, Kari; his daughter, Jaime, and son-in-law, Billy; his grandchildren, Kate, Andrew, Karley, Taylor, and Joe; and his brother, Bill, and sister-in-law, Betty Jane, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Vern's life was one of hard work and determination — from farm boy to military pilot to airline captain — but it was always his family that mattered most. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Rosary will be held Friday, August 28th at 6:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Mass on Saturday, August 29th at 11:00 AM, both at Assumption Parish, Spokane, WA. A reception will follow at Assumption Parish, with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Obituary of David Fargo Miller  (1941 – 2026)

The skies were saddened and gray on August 17th, 2026, with the passing of David ‘Dave’ Fargo Miller. Born on May 6th, 1941, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Eleanor and Harrison Miller. Dave rounded out the family to his older sisters Julie and Pat.

Dave received his early education through the Lower Merion schools, graduating in 1959. He subsequently enlisted in the United States Air Force, trained as Munitions Specialist, and served overseas at Bitburg AFB and Wheelus AFB. Honorably discharged from the Air Force Reserves in 1964, he rotated to civilian life. He worked various civilian jobs, but nothing challenged his restless mind. Setting off for Reno Air Races in 1964, watching the high-powered racing aircraft lit his passion that served him personally and professionally for the rest of his life. Dave learned to fly, soloed, achieving instrument and multi-engine ratings. Continuing to challenge himself he completed his studies at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Institute for commercial instrument and flight instructor ratings. After earning his instructor ratings, he was able to teach his passion.

Valentine’s Day 1969, his first day at Altair Airlines, was the perfect airline for Dave. Because just a few short years later, he met his one and only love. In Williamsport Airport he met Cynthia Ann McKee. Cindy was a ticket agent and loved watching him come and hated to see him go. Dave added as many trips to Williamsport as his schedule would allow to see Cindy again. Cindy and Dave were happily married on August 18th, 1973.

Thirty thousand hours of flight professionally at Altair, Republic and Northwest Airlines including personal flight in his own airplane. Professionally, Dave flew DC-9’s, 727’s, 757’s and DC-10’s. He was promoted to Captain at Altair and Northwest, both times flying his favorite jet, the DC-9. Dave retired from Northwest in May of 2003, as Flight Engineer, getting a couple more years of flight. He owned two airplanes; a Cessna 170B and a Beech Bonanza. After retiring from Northwest there wasn’t anywhere Dave and Cindy wouldn’t go in the Bonanza.

After the flights were complete, downtime for Dave was family time. There were trips to the Shore, trips to Cindy’s home and as his sons grew up, trips to go skiing. When his sons got older, the trips got bigger with the inclusion of family friends. And when Dave was blessed with granddaughters there were trips to the cabin and Lake Lure.

Where Dave made his greatest impact to those around him was his ability to fix anything. If something broke in the house or a neighbor’s house, Dave was there. Anyone was welcome to his shop, and he would teach them anything they wanted to know. Once again, teaching his passion. Cars, trucks, motorcycles, engines and one airplane have arrived at the doorstep of Dave and Cindy’s home in U-Hauls, on trailers, in crates and boxes. Where everyone saw junk, Dave saw treasure that just needed awakening. Used, wrecked, in pieces it didn’t matter. Father and sons, together in the shop, fixing and returning to running better than it left the assembly line. He honed his abilities and won awards. From the Antique Automobile Club of America he won National Awards for his restoration of his 1946 Harley Davidson and a friend’s 1932 Chevrolet.

In all of this, he also found time to join the Rose Tree Fire Company No. 1 in 2012. He served as Engineer, Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator and Chief Engineer. He was awarded top ten for fire calls and training in many of those years of service at Rose Tree Fire Company.

Dave was a member of Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), American Bonanza Society, Historical Car Club of Pennsylvania, Antique Automobile Club of America, and a founding member of the American Air Museum in Britain. He was also a devoted member of St. Timothy's Lutheran Church for over 40 years, where, among other roles, he served as a reader, greeter, and usher.

Dave is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Cindy: two sons: Matthew (Carolyn) of Greenville, South Carolina, and James of Glen Mills, Pennsylvania. He leaves behind his beloved granddaughters: Annabelle and Sloane. Dave also leaves behind his dachshund Lilli. Dave was predeceased by his beloved parents and sister, Julie.

A memorial service will be held on August 25th, 2026 at St Timothy’s Lutheran Church at 1:00pm, with a viewing beforehand from 11a-1p. A private interment ceremony will be held the following day. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that memorial contributions in Dave's name be made to St. Timothy's or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Geri, who passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026, after suffering a stroke.

Geri was a devoted wife to her husband, Harry, and a loving mother to their three children, Mary, Anne, and Harry Ill. She was the proud grandmother of Jack, Kate, Alexandria, Taylor, Donovan 11, and Jaclynne, and greatgrandmother to Liam. Her family was the greatest joy of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Geri was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Joseph Wierske and Marie

Schmidt. She grew up in Milwaukee, attended St. Josaphat Catholic School and Bay View High School, and went on to attend the University of Wisconsin, where she majored in child development.

After college, Geri became a Stewardess (flight attendant) for Northwest Airlines, a job she thoroughly enjoyed for three years. In those days, the rules for stewardesses required them to remain single and retire from flying at age 32. She was recognized by LIFE magazine in 1958 as being one of the most glamorous stewardesses of that time. But Geri's plans changed when, on August 25, 1961, she and Harry eloped in San Francisco, California. Because of Northwest Airlines' regulations, Geri had to resign from the airline. Her final flight, however, was one she would never forget. Before her last flight to Fort Lauderdale, the Captain asked her, "How can we make your last flight

memorable?" The flight ended up crashing upon landing. Fortunately, Geri was safe, and afterward she jokingly told the Captain, "You didn't have to go to that extreme to make my last flight that memorable." That story, and Geri's wonderful sense of humor, remained a favorite family memory.

Not long after Geri left Northwest Airlines, Harry was transferred from Seattle to Minneapolis, Minnesota. Shortly after the birth of their first child, Mary, they returned to Seattle, where they built their family home on Mercer Island.

There, their family grew with the arrival of Anne and Harry Ill. Once her children were in school, Geri devoted her time to helping others.

She volunteered at Lakeridge Elementary School as a teacher's aide, working with children who had reading disabilities. She also loved traveling with her family, enjoying both domestic and international vacations made possible by the benefits of Harry's airline employment.

After 26 wonderful years on Mercer Island, filled with family, friends, and countless activities on Lake Washington, their children had graduated from college and begun their careers. In 1992, Geri and Harry moved to Gig Harbor and built a home in Canterwood, a golf community where they began a new chapter of their lives together.

In their 60s, Geri and Harry took up golf, and Geri quickly embraced the game and the friendships that came with it. She became an active member of the community and participated in numerous activities, including chairing a committee for the local Gig Harbor charity F.I.S.H.

Geri was a kind, loving, and caring woman who adored her family. She was happiest surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandson, and her love and warmth touched everyone who knew her.

After 65 years together, Harry says simply, "I will miss her every day."

At Geri's request, there will be a private burial at Tahoma National Cemetery.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at St. Anthony's Hospital and to the nurses and staff at Cottesmore for the loving care they provided to Geri.

Geri will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Kenneth Dean "Ken" Williams, Sr., 89, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, passed away on August 16, 2026, under the care of hospice and surrounded by the family he loved beyond measure.

A memorial service will be held for Kenneth Williams on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 1:00pm at the Park Pointe Village Community Building, 3025 Chesbrough Blvd., Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Born October 10, 1936, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to Harvey Hugh and Mattie Mae Lucille Jones Williams, Ken grew up with his younger brother, Harvey LeBron Williams, learning early the values that would guide his life: work hard, take responsibility, care for others and make the most of every opportunity. He graduated from Central High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the University of Chattanooga, where he participated in ROTC.

Ken served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1966, attaining the rank of Captain. During the Vietnam War, he flew a UH-1B Huey gunship on combat missions and later served as a VIP pilot for General William Westmoreland. He earned the Vietnam Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal. His military service also included time in Korea.

In 1966, Ken joined Delta Air Lines, beginning a 30-year career as a commercial pilot and ultimately retiring as a Delta captain. His care for others extended beyond the cockpit. Among his recognitions was a Delta Customer Service Citation for personally assisting a passenger whose son was in a coma.

Ken remained grateful throughout his life for his first wife, Helen, and the years they shared raising their four children, Ken, Trent, Lisa and Debbie. Her support helped him through flight school and the early years of building his career. Although their marriage ended in 1983, Ken continued to respect and include Helen as the mother of his children until her death in 2024.

For the final 40 years of his life, Ken shared his life with his beloved wife, Catherine Lucinda "Cathy" Williams. Together they created a life rich with family, friendship and adventure. They traveled extensively, cruised, explored the country by RV and made lasting friends wherever they went. Yet some of their happiest moments were simply having everyone together, including one treasured Christmas at their home in Springfield, Tennessee, when their children, grandchildren and siblings all gathered under one roof.

Ken was immensely proud of his daughters, Lisa and Debbie. Lisa held a particularly tender place in his heart, and his love for her deepened his commitment to supporting people with intellectual disabilities. Her quick wit also made him laugh like few others could. His relationship with Debbie carried the special bond of a father and daughter, each strong-minded in their own way. He watched with pride as she built a life uniquely her own, celebrating her family, education, service and leadership. With both daughters, his love was steady, unmistakable and abundant.

When he married Cathy, his family and his love also grew to include her children, Wesley, Karen and Jeffrey, and their families. Together, their blended family shared decades of holidays, travel, celebrations and family life.

His grandchildren were among his greatest joys. Ken showed up for sporting events, graduations and the moments that mattered. One favorite adventure was a three-generation fishing trip to Alaska with his brother, sons-in-law, stepsons and grandsons.

Ken loved fishing, sports, travel, time with friends and a good meal. He was always willing to investigate the next best ice cream place, although Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla remained hard to beat. A lifelong DIY problem-solver, he could build or repair almost anything and saw little reason to pay someone for something he could figure out himself. He was frugal with himself but remarkably generous with others.

Ken worked harder than almost anyone who knew him. He set goals and pursued them with determination, grit and an occasional dose of stubbornness. When he said, "It's the principle of the matter," those who loved him generally knew where the conversation was headed.

For 30 years, Ken was a Rotarian and a Paul Harris Fellow. He also spent 15 years supporting children with intellectual disabilities through Junior Forum in Pasadena, Texas. Rotary's motto, "Service Above Self," described Ken well. He gave generously and humbly, thought of others before himself and believed that when someone needed help, you showed up.

That remained true until the end. As his health declined, Ken's concern was still for the people he loved. He wanted his family near and found comfort in hearing their voices and laughter around him.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Harvey LeBron Williams; his sons, Kenneth Williams, Jr. and Trent Williams; and Helen, the mother of his children.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Catherine Lucinda "Cathy" Williams; his daughters, Lisa Williams and Debra Corbett and her husband, Bailey; and grandsons Bailey Dean Corbett, Kendon Corbett and Chase Corbett. He is also survived by Cathy's children, Wesley Hand, Jr. and his wife, Kimberly; Karen Sedatole and her wife, Stacie; and Jeffrey Hand and his wife, Stephanie; grandchildren Savoy McKibben and her husband, Tim, Wesley Hand, Emma Hand, Matthew Sedatole and his wife, Claire, and Julia Rockwell and her husband, Jeff; and great-grandchildren Zoe McKibben and Louis Rockwell.

Ken's life was filled with airplanes flown, places traveled and goals accomplished, but his greatest legacy will always be found in the people he loved and the way he lived.

Work hard. Be responsible. Be kind. Be generous. Seize the opportunity. Laugh often. Take care of your people. And whenever possible, put service above self.

Robert “Bob” Albert Patrick joined Northeast Airlines 01-03-1967 and retired with Delta Air Lines based Boston.  Widowed in 2023, Bob is survived by his children and their families.

Robert A. Patrick

Robert "Bob" Patrick passed away peacefully Saturday, August 15, 2026, after a period of declining health. Born in Manchester on January 31, 1934, he was the son of the late Alfred and Aurore (Ouellette) Patrick and was a lifelong resident of the Manchester area. 

Bob graduated from Bishop Bradley High School and began his career with the Air National Guard. With a lifelong love of flying and a spirit of adventure, he went on to join the Army National Guard where he became a helicopter pilot. That passion for aviation led him to his next adventure, flying for New York Airways, before continuing his career with Delta Airlines, where he flew the 727 until retirement. 

While flying was an important part of Bob's life, it was the people and experiences along the way that meant the most. He enjoyed many hours spent bowling and playing golf, and he found great purpose in giving back to his community. He volunteered at the VA and proudly served as part of the color guard at veterans' funerals, honoring those who had served their country. 

He leaves behind his children, Linda and her husband Robert Bruno, Leo and his wife Beth Patrick, and Joyce and her husband Vernon "Butch" Rowe; seven grandchildren, Jayson, Charlene, Philip, Alison, Michelle, Samuel, and Kimberly; four great-grandchildren, Axton, Wyatt, Asher, and Kilian; his very close niece, Judith Patrick Ronshagen-Gunderson; and his sister-in-law, Jeanette Patrick. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Lillian (Vaillancourt) Patrick; and his brothers, Romeo and his wife Eleanor, Emile and his wife Flo, and Roger. 

SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Lambert Funeral Home, 1799 Elm St., Manchester from 12pm to 1pm. Burial will be private.

Obituary for Richard "Rick" Eugene Zahm Jr.

Richard “Rick” Eugene Zahm Jr., 55, of Huntington, passed away Friday, August 14, 2026. He was born on May 13, 1971, to Richard “Dick” Zahm and Susan “Susie” (Scher) Parker and raised in Huntington, Indiana. After graduation from Huntington North High School in 1989, he attended FlightSafety International in Florida. Rick was a pilot for over 30 years, most recently as a Captain for Delta Air Lines.

 

On March 22, 2003, Rick married Laura Burcham. The couple have two beautiful daughters, Emma and Maddie. Rick was a devoted father and husband. Family trips were an important part of their story. He and his family visited more than 20 national parks and took several road trips to attend concerts of their favorite classic rock bands like The Eagles, The Guess Who, Chicago, and ELO. Those outings were never just about the show; they were about being together, making memories, and giving his daughters a part of the music that meant so much to him.

 

At home, Rick enjoyed spending time in his barn and working on his property. To know Rick was to appreciate his humor, his willingness to use his practical knowledge helping family and friends, his meticulous attention to detail, and the steady way he showed up for those around him. He was a member of Huntington First Church of the Nazarene and was a dedicated volunteer for Operation Christmas Child.

 

Rick is survived by his wife, Laura Zahm of Huntington, IN; two daughters, Emma and Madison “Maddie”; his father, Richard “Dick” Zahm of Huntington, IN; two sisters, Connie Smith of Huntington, IN, and Cindy (Mike) Cook of Huntington, IN; stepsister, Brianna Spurgeon of Huntington, IN; his father- and mother-in-law, Gene and Janet Burcham of Huntington, IN; and his sister-in-law, Karen (Jon) Klister of Round Lake, IL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Susan “Susie” Parker, and stepmother, Christine Zahm.

 

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Adkins Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, August 21, 2026, at Adkins Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Tyler Gates officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service.

William Wade “Bill” Middleton, age 81, of Dunwoody, Georgia, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2026, under hospice care with Capstone Hospice in Marietta, Georgia. He was born on December 31, 1944 to the late William Benton Middleton and late Raymona Hilton Middleton of Texas.

Bill dedicated much of his life to his greatest passion—flying. He enjoyed a distinguished career as an airline pilot, beginning with Southern Airlines, which later became Republic Airlines, followed by Northwest Airlines and, ultimately, Delta Air Lines, where he completed his career. His love of aviation was more than a profession; it was a lifelong joy and an important part of who he was.

Bill was also a proud United States Air Force veteran, having served as a Captain.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Bantivoglio; his brother, Raymond Middleton of The Woodlands, Texas; sister-in-law, Paula Middleton; nieces, Melaine and Lauren; and nephew, Robert. He will be lovingly remembered by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Outside of aviation, Bill enjoyed photography and was an avid reader. Yet, above all, his greatest joy was flying.

The family will receive guests on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at H.M. Patterson & Son-Canton Hill Chapel.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Georgia National Cemetery.

Captain Bernard “Bert” Lee Kelly joined Delta Air Lines 09-13-1965 and retired with Delta in 1997 based Atlanta.  Widowed in 2009 with the passing of his wife Wanda, Bert is survived by his daughters and their families.  Services for Captain Kelly will be held Aug. 15 & 16 ….please see obituary below for locations.

 Bernard Lee Kelly, 88 years old, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his Southwood home in Tallahassee, FL – around 1:40am on August 6, 2026. He was surrounded by his three daughters, all of whom had personally cared for him during his recent physical decline.

 

Bernard (most fondly known as Bert) was born October 7, 1937 in Tifton, Georgia. A descendant of Irish immigrants, he grew up visiting the Kelly family 150 acre farm in Grady County, just north of Whigham – where he quickly learned, and fell in love with, the value of simple country living. As a child, he was surrounded by the expansive, positive power of family: his mother died when he was just a boy; as a result, his extended relatives became more like parents and siblings. He grew up with cousins for playmates – and leaned on the support of aunts, uncles, and grandparents to shepherd his adolescence. The definitive loss of his mother in early childhood yielded his lifelong, unwavering commitment to his sisters and extended family.

 His family moved to Tallahassee, Florida when he was a teenager, and he attended Leon High School (class of 1955). He went on to attend Florida State University before joining the US Air Force. Following in the footsteps of his father (who was a mail bus driver, then a Trailways bus driver), Bert was inspired to establish a career in transportation – but found his true calling in the skies. While in the US Air Force (stationed in Laredo, Texas), he flew fighter jets and eventually served as a flight instructor; his call sign was Little Jug.

 He began his career with Delta Airlines in 1965, commissioning his most beloved identity: Captain Bert Kelly. Throughout his 37 years with Delta, he took on many leadership roles – but he had particular pride in serving as captain of the L1011. As a Delta pilot, he cherished the opportunity to not just see the world, but share it. His loved ones consider themselves lucky to have traversed the globe in his company or in his honor. Though he touched down in, and took off from, too many locations to name… his favorite places on the planet were Ireland, the Colorado Rockies, and Florida’s Gulf Coast.

 He retired from Delta in 1997 – and lived the next decades of his life traveling for pleasure, prioritizing quality time with family (especially his daughters and his grandchildren), and enjoying Tallahassee’s bounty of personal blessings (including all manner of FSU sports and his lake-facing front porch view). In his later years, despite the loss of his wife and an 18 year battle with cancer (multiple myeloma), Bert continued to seek out the best of the best. Bert appreciated the value of a good joke, a well-orchestrated surprise, and a simple breeze. He read the local newspaper religiously (his first job, after all, was delivering papers by bicycle in Donalsonville, GA as a boy). His heroes were Bobby Bowden, George Strait, and Jesus. His generosity was undeniable, his reliability was unmatched, and his heart was pure.

 Bert’s faith as a Christian was his true north, punctuating every day he lived with reflection and intention. He was a man prone to preach – but his willingness to dole out wisdom was always balanced by an openness to consider another’s perspective. He modeled the art of genuine listening, and he welcomed healthy debate. Above all, though, he sought to understand his neighbor, practice unconditional love, and answer to his Maker alone. 

Bert was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Lorena Barber, in 1948; his father, Oscar Bernard Kelly, in 1977; and his wife, Wanda Reddick Kelly, in 2009. He is survived by his three daughters, Jennifer Kelly Martin, Lee Ann Kelly, and Alyssa Kelly; his sisters Patsy Cooper and Nancy Radford; and four grandchildren. 

 A Celebration of Life will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church (2351 Mahan Drive, Tallahassee FL 32308) on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 1:00pm. 

 A Committal Service will be held at Friendship Cemetery (209 W 12th St, Donalsonville GA 39845) on Sunday, August 16, 2026 at 11:00am.

 A memorial bench in his honor will be placed in his neighborhood, across from his home’s front porch view and at the lake’s edge, with this inscription: To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die.

Passed away August 5, 2026 in Melbourne, Florida

Richard A. Mau of Melbourne, Florida passed away on August 5, 2026 at the age of 90, after a brief illness. He was born September 7, 1935. His parents were Frederick and Mildred (Glass) Mau of Bonfield, Illinois. A Philanthropist, his favorite charities were Saint Jude Children Cancer Research Hospital and Health First Foundation in Melbourne, Florida. He was a member of the Marine Corp Heritage Fountain. He enlisted in the Marine Corp in 1953 and served three years during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed at the former Marine Corp Air Station at Miami, Florida as an aircraft and engine mechanic. He attained the rank of Sergeant and received an Honorable Discharge. After earning his commercial pilots license he was employed by Eastern, National, Pan Am and Delta Airlines combined for a total of 42 years in Miami, Florida. He was an International Flight Engineer on the famous 747 Jumbo Jet with Pan Am. He participated in flying troops from Iraq and Tel Aviv during the first Gulf War and received from the Air Force a Certificate and Service Medal. One of his famous passengers that he had and met was Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta (now Kolkata), India. He traveled to 125 countries. After retiring and moving to Melbourne, Florida he bought his own airplane and had it for nine years. That completed a total of fifty-four years in aviation. He also had an antique log house on the Wolf Laurel golf (third hole) and ski resort at an altitude of 4,800 feet, 27 miles north of Asheville, North Carolina, where his family and friends gathered in the summers for 25 years. He married the former Jacqueline Cooper (deceased) in Miami, Florida in 1956 and was married for 60 years. They had a son, Fred, (deceased) of Melbourne, Florida, and have a daughter, Sandra (Mau) Stone of Brevard, NC, along with 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters. He also leaves his wife, Wen Wei, also of Melbourne, Florida (formerly of Shenzhen, China). Wen and Richard were married in April of 2026. He was preceded in death by his wife Jacqueline, his son Fred, sisters Virginia (Bernard) Fritz of Herscher, Illinois, Dorothy (Charles) Brown of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, his parents, and his two English Bulldogs. He will be laid to rest on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 10:30am at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Florida next to his wife Jacqueline. There will be a visitation on Wednesday August 12, 2026 from 5pm until 7pm at Brownlie-Maxwell Funeral Home in Melbourne, Florida.

Bonita “Bonnie” Jo Delzer passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, in Torrance, California. She was 90 years old.

Born in Fargo, North Dakota, Bonnie was the daughter of Franklin and Marjorie Van Osdel. She graduated from the University of North Dakota with a bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in Library Science. During her college years, she was a proud member of the Alpha Phi sorority.

In 1957, Bonnie married L. Carroll Delzer. Following their marriage, Carroll joined the U.S. Air Force, and together they lived in Oklahoma and Massachusetts before settling in California when Carroll accepted a position with Western Airlines.

In 1971, Bonnie and her family moved into their new home in Palos Verdes Estates, where she lived until 1990. She then made her home in Torrance, where she happily spent the remainder of her life. Bonnie cherished her many years in the South Bay community.

Bonnie was a devoted member of P.E.O., a philanthropic organization dedicated to helping women pursue educational opportunities, for more than 70 years. She found joy in many hobbies and interests throughout her life. She loved Hummel figurines, cats and dogs—especially Scottish Terriers—and was an avid reader who rarely passed up a good book. She also enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles. In her younger years, she loved water skiing, playing tennis, and creating beautiful needlepoint and cross-stitch pieces.

Bonnie will be lovingly remembered by her three daughters, Becky Hughes of San Bernardino, California; Tammy Finn of Gainesville, Georgia; and Jill Rose of Torrance, California; her sons-in-law, David “Woody” Finn and Raymond Rose; her grandchildren, Kerstin Hughes, Franklin Hughes, Sara Finn, Jenna Finn, and Kori Finn; and her six great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many dear friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and gentle spirit.

Louis Carroll Delzer passed away on July 2, 2024 in Long Beach, CA. He was 87 years old. He was a former resident of Palos Verdes Estates. He was born on December 31, 1936 in Zeeland, ND, the son of Rhinee and Madeline Delzer. Carroll graduated from University of North Dakota. He worked on the Minute Man Project before entering the Air Force. Carroll was in the first class to fly T-38s. He went on to fly B-52s in Vietnam. In 1968 Carroll was hired by Western Airlines where he flew 727s. Western Airlines was bought by Delta Airlines. He flew for the airlines for 28 years and retired as a Captain. Carroll had many favorite things: airplanes of course, researching antique firearms……………
