___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our PCN Flight West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. ~ IN MEMORY ~

Captain Glenn ‘Wilbur’ Woods
January 19, 1932 ~ July 21, 2015
Glenn passed away unexpectedly at his home in Seattle at the age of 83. He was born in Cordova, Alaska to Earl Franklin Woods and Elizabeth McLoskey DeHart. He was raised in the Green Lake district, attended John Marshall Junior High and was a 1950 graduate of Roosevelt High School.

After serving in the Air Force he returned to Seattle and with a close friend managed the "Hot Dog Show" on the corner of Ravenna and Roosevelt Way - a popular spot for locals to gather, eat and for their former classmates to work.

Glenn's passion was flying and he went on to have a 35 year career as an Airline Pilot. He began in 1957 with West Coast Airlines and after several mergers retired in 1992 as a Captain (#1) with Northwest Airlines.

After reconnecting with Virgy Lou at their 30th Roosevelt High Reunion they married and set off on an adventure of cruising and golf. They joined the Seattle Yacht Club in 1983 and Glenn soon bought his first of 2 boats. He loved cruising the beautiful waters of the Pacific Northwest and was an active member of the yacht club serving on several committees. In retirement he rediscovered golf and together they became snow birds splitting time between many friends at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage and their Seattle home.

He is survived by his wife Virgy Lou, his children and their families: Jeff Woods (Lisa), Julie Katzer (Jim); grandchildren: Adrienne, Dominic, Abiegail, Kellen, August, Leah and step grandchildren Sierra and Liana Hagans.

He is also survived by his stepchildren and their families: Erik Anderson (Patricia) and Karin Anderson; as well as his step grandchildren: Nicolas, Victoria, Michael and Shelby. He is also survived by nephews Don and Brad Greenway and his former wife Judy Harwood. He was preceded in death by his sister Jeanne Greenway.
