Notification with the passing of Pan Am/Delta pilot Captain James Hansi White, age 81.  Captain White joined Pan American Airways 07-23-1964 and retired with Delta Air Lines in 1995.  He is survived by his wife Laila Wallner White.  Whitepages notes their residence as

James Hansi White, born in 1935 of Stuart, Florida passed away on Valentines Day, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Laila (Wallner) White, from Gavle, Sweden and daughters Kristina Phillips (Andrew) of Ridgewood, NJ and Stephanie Meyer (John) of Winnetka, IL. Survivors also include Joelle Normand and Claudette Brown and their children, and his sister Francis Eisenbrandt. He leaves behind his grandchildren who will never forget their beloved "Morfar".

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna Zankeisen of Basel, Switzerland and James Francis White of Baltimore MD, and his brother Frank White of Vero Beach, FL.

 

Originally from Baltimore, he attended St. Paul's School and played lacrosse for John's Hopkins University. He served as a Lieutenant in the Navy, a stockbroker with Merrill Lynch, and was a Captain with Pan American Airways, and Delta Airlines for over 30 years.

 

A member of the Yacht and Country Club of Stuart, he served as Commodore of the Yacht Club. He also enjoyed a spirited game of tennis. In addition to his family, his passion was traveling the world. He was the most happy when out on his boat fishing and diving for lobsters in the Bahamas. His favorite saying was "Just another day in Paradise", usually with a sparkle in his blue eyes.

 

His remains will rest at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington DC. Donations can be made in his honor to the Disabled Warrior Program for Veterans (boec.org)

Word has been received with the passing of retired WA/DL pilot Captain Howard Earle Straight, age 85.  Captain Straight joined Western Airlines 02-25-1961 and retired with Delta Air Lines in 1990, based Los Angeles.  He is survived by his wife Mildred.

Howard Earle Straight, 85, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Sunday, Feb. 7. Mildred, his beloved wife of 59 years, was at his side.
He was born on April 23, 1930 in Colorado Springs, Colo. After serving in the Marine Corps Engineers, Earle fulfilled his dream of being an airline pilot, and retired from Delta Airlines in 1990. He and Mildred were active in the Fallbrook Reche Club, members of Living Waters Christian Fellowship, and Fallbrook avocado ranchers since 1978.

 

Earle is survived by his wife, Mildred; son Steven Straight, his wife Sheila, of Fallbrook; grandson Joshua Straight of Burbank, Calif.; granddaughter Cristal Ige, her husband Tim and their children, Dan, Caleb and Hanna of Haleiwa, Hawaii, as well as a number of cousins. Earle loved his family and was a kindhearted friend and neighbor who's booming laugh and travel adventure stories will be greatly missed.

 

There will be a viewing on Monday, Feb. 15 from 9 to 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. at Berry-Bell & Hall Fallbrook Mortuary, 333 N. Vine St. Private burial will be at Miramar National Cemetery, San Diego.

Earl's wife Mildred called me to say Earl had passed away Sunday morning 2/7/2016. He was residing in a nursing home following a stroke. His service is to be held here in Fallbrook, CA at the Berry-Bell & Hall Fallbrook Mortuary. The viewing is 9:00 AM on February 15^th followed by the service at 10:00 AM. The interment will be at Miramar National Cemetery immediately following the service. The addresses for the mortuary and national cemetery can be found by searching on the internet. Michael Anthony Carr, of Washington, DC, passed peacefully at home in the company of his family on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in the District of Columbia on July 23, 1963, and was a graduate of Blessed Sacrament School, Gonzaga College High School and the University of Maryland, College Park. In June 1992, Michael married the love of his life, Lisa Manheimer. They were the proud parents of two sons, Joseph Franklin and John Griffith. Michael served in the United States Marines Corps from 1981 until 1985 and continued his military career as a naval aviator. He was a veteran of the Persian Gulf War, ending his service in the US Navy at the rank of Lieutenant Commander. After leaving the Navy in 1996, Michael embarked upon a career as a pilot with Delta Airlines, achieving the rank of Captain of the Boeing 737. Michael's distinctive force in this world was his joy in connecting with people everywhere he went; his love of life and the people that inhabited his journey through it were his everything. He had a gift for maintaining ties from every stage of his life, going back to his days hanging out with his neighborhood gang in Rock Alley, shenanigans with his high school friends from Eye Street, and flying with his Navy and Delta buddies. He collected friends throughout his Naval career-starting with his training days, in the VAW-124 squadron flying the E2-C Hawkeye, and concluding as a flight instructor teaching students to land on aircraft carriers in the T-45 Goshawk. Michael took great pleasure and found deep meaning in spending time with his sons, his wife, family and close friends. His adventurous spirit took him around the world. He loved his bi-annual family camping trips, snowboarding, hiking with his beloved dogs Ajax and Biggie, and discovering delicious eats. Michael was predeceased by his mother, Milagros J. Carr. He is survived by his wife, Lisa; his sons, Joe and John; his father Robert F. Carr II, and his siblings, Chris and his wife Peggy, Tina and her partner Susan Wattik, Rob and his wife Missy, and Sarah and her husband John Windmuller. He was the devoted uncle to 11 nieces and nephews, two grand-nephews and one grand-niece. He also leaves behind many extended family members who loved him both here and in the Philippines. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, 3630 Quesada Street, NW, Washington, DC. A visitation will be observed from 10 a.m., with a Funeral Mass to follow at 11 a.m. A reception for family and friends will be held at the Chevy Chase Women's Club, 7931 Connecticut Avenue, Chevy Chase, Maryland from 12:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, we encourage a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or PanCan.org.

Weston 'Woody' John Longson, 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Feb. 6, 2016. Woody was born to Weston and Julia Longson in San Francisco, Calif. He attended Liberty High School in Brentwood, Calif., and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from San Jose State University. He enlisted in the United States Airforce in November 1963, where he completed pilot training in Lubbock, Texas. He was based at Fairchild Airforce Base in Spokane, Wash., and Anderson Airforce Base in Guam. He flew B-52';s and was Captain for the 325 Bomb Squad. He was honorably discharged in December 1968. After the Airforce, he flew the 727 and 757 commercially and eventually retired from Northwest Airlines as a Captain of the 747-200 in 1999. After retirement, he lived in Anchorage, Alaska, where he founded the ";Freedom Group,"; an Alcoholics Anonymous support group. Woody was very proud to be a part of this group and was given his 25th year recovery medal last year. During this time he sponsored many people and helped them through their journey. He made an impact in the lives of many people and will continue to make an impact in their life through his memory. Woody loved fishing, football, family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Charlene Hurst; and son, Michael Longson. He is survived by his daughter, Katie (Steve) Streitz of St. Cloud, Minn.; son, Chris (Sara) Longson of Fairbanks, Alaska; grandchildren, Tyler, Brian, Isabella, Braydon and Anna; his lifelong friends, Dick Stanton of Martha';s Vineyard, Mass., and Terry Shimek of Anchorage, Alaska; as well as his longtime companion, Phyllis Buchanan of Anchorage. Robert Russell "Bob" Rioux, 72, of Venice, Fla., passed away Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016.

He was born May 29, 1943, in Quincy, Mass., to Henry Charles and Josephine Mae Rioux. He served as a second lieutenant in the National Guard Reserves. He retired as a senior captain with Delta Airlines after 30 years.

While living in Massachusetts, he created a very successful youth hockey league, The Yankee Conference, in Hingham, Mass. That also led him to help write a computer program that automatically scheduled conference games.

Bob was a loving father, husband and grandfather and a wonderful friend to all those who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; their three sons, David (Diane) Rioux of Medina, Ohio, Brian (Brandy) Rioux of Wilmington, N.C., and Chris Rioux of Venice; as well as his five terrific grandchildren.

Services: A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 18,
