John Albert “Captain Jack” McCormick Jr., 89, of Honolulu, a retired pilot and captain for Western Airlines and Delta Air Lines, died in Honolulu. He was born in Los Angeles. He is survived by wife Sherma W.; daughters Barbara M. Donley, Michelle M. Pratt and Denise A. McCormick; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. No services. John “Captain Jack” Albert McCormick Jr., of Honolulu, Hawaii passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at the Straub Clinic and Hospital in Honolulu; he was 89 years old. He was the eldest of three children born to John Albert McCormick Sr. and Sadie Margaret Breining in Los Angeles, California on January 21, 1927. He attended St. Patrick School (Eureka), Judd Memorial High School in Salt Lake City, Utah; then furthered his education at Kapiolani Community College in Honolulu, Hawaii. Although he did not earn a degree, he took specialized aeronautical classes and other classes in astronomy and volcanology. After graduation he began his career as a plane mechanic, piloting a mail carrier plane, charter pilot, and then a commercial airline pilot. He was employed with the airline industry from 1982 and after serving 32 years, he retired as a Captain with both Western and Delta Airlines. He lived in Eureka and Salt Lake City, Utah, Los Angeles and Northridge, California, and finally made Honolulu, Hawaii his home. He was married to Sherma West on July 3, 1947 and they had three daughters. He loved and cherished his family and always made sure that they were cared for. With the exception of the love and affection of his family, John’s learning and pursuing a career to fly was his passion. After retirement, they were interested in learning more about their Hawaiian State. John was raised Catholic. He was involved with ALPA, Silver Eagles, and was a member of the Smithsonian; which involved reunion meetings at varied sites around the country. He enjoyed reading and learning more about space, history, astronomy, biographies, and geography. He also enjoyed listening to popular orchestra music and Frank Sinatra’s “I Did It My Way”. Special friends in his life were Dick Bleue and Bill Lobaugh. He is survived by wife, Sherma W. McCormick; daughters, Barbara M. (Robert) Donley, Michelle M. (Donald) Pratt, and Denise A. McCormick; eight grandchildren, Noele (Todd) Salesky, Michelle Donley, Kathleen Donley, Nicole Donley (Michael Scottibelli), Erin (Pete) Montalvo, Shannon Thompson, Elizabeth (Mike) Eakright and Matthew D. McCormick; eight great-grandchildren, Sophia Scottibelli, Andres Lerea, Jakob Stanek, Josephine Montalvo, Isabelle Montalvo, Nicholas Montalvo, Peter Montalvo and Amelia Eakright. John will be remembered as a persistent, determined, and strong willed man. His catch phrase or quote was “Que Sera Sera”. He will truly be missed by his family and friends. No services were held.

WILLIAM J. HENTUSH of JEFFERSONVILLE, IN
William J. Hentush, 70, passed away Monday, March 21, 2016 at his home. He was a pilot for Northwest Airlines. He was a member of the Elks Club, C.C.C.C. Club, and a member of St. Roman's Catholic Church. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He is survived by his beloved companion Suzie Anderson of Jeffersonville, IN; his sons: William J. Hentush Jr. and his wife Brenda of Worth, IL and Thomas E. Hentush of Crown Point, IN; his daughter, Janie A. Kwiecinski and her husband Robert of Crown Point, IN; his sister Dorothy Kozlowski and her husband Skip of Orland Park, IL; seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter; his extended loving family from Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his father William Hentush; his mother, Eleanor (Gorczynski) Hentush. Cremation was chosen by the family.

DL Capt. Walker Jeter Hester

Notification with the passing of Delta pilot Captain Walker Jeter Hester, age 59.  Death was due to an accident while test flying his airplane.  Captain Hester joined Delta Air Lines 08-21-1987 and was currently based 031/ATL flying international routes.

Obituary................
Walker Jeter Hester, 59, a beloved father, son, brother, Veteran Naval Aviator, and devout Christian, passed away in an accident while test-flying his newest airplane. Born in New England but a true son of the south, he graduated from Germantown High School in 1974. After completing a degree in Journalism at the University of Memphis, he served in the United States Navy as a Naval Aviator, call sign "Boxer." Following an honorable discharge in 1987, he joined Delta Airlines as a First Officer, progressing rapidly to Captain. Walker's greatest passions were his work in evangelical prison ministries, cheering on the University of Tennessee Volunteers, and traveling to Charleston, SC to spend time with his beloved daughter, Laine. A daredevil at heart, Walker pursued adrenaline pumping adventures from aerial-acrobatics, to motorcycle racing, to powered paragliding. Mourning his loss are his daughter, Laine Hester, stepmother, Deborah Hester Harrison, siblings, Sullivan Hester (Shea) and J Ross Hester, extended family, as well as many friends from his worldly travels. We celebrate his life as he is welcomed into the Kingdom of God and is joyously reunited with loved ones. The service will be held on April 1 at Riverside Chapel at Memorial Park, Memphis, TN. There will also be a celebration of life held in Atlanta, GA on April 2. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Wings of the Morning special event fund at Bill Glass Behind the Walls.

Pilot identified in fatal Cheraw plane crash

Officials have now identified a pilot killed when his homebuilt aircraft crashed in a Chesterfield County swamp Thursday.
The county Coroner’s Office said 59-year-old Walker Jeter is an Atlanta, Ga., native who was the only person aboard the experimental Rocket II plane at the time. Chesterfield County Sheriff Jay Brooks told reporters that some nearby farmers saw the plane go down around 10:15 a.m. Thursday, but it required an aerial search to find the wreckage in the dense swamp of the Pee Dee River.
“With the help of a helicopter, some debris was found right on the Pee Dee in some of the thickest swamp in the county,” Brooks said during a press conference Thursday. “The plane was located a couple hours later.”
A team from the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are on-scene investigating the crash, but the sheriff warned it will be difficult to remove the wreckage from the swamp.
“The plane was upside-down and it took a while even after we reached the site to get the pilot out,” Brooks said.
An autopsy is scheduled for Jeter’s body Thursday morning.

Obituary.....................
Edward Burton Holt, 89, died unexpectedly on March 24, 2016 at his home.  He was born on June 22, 1926 in Marshfield, VT, son of the late Christine Lois (Mardin) Calacci and Richard Wallce Holt.
Mr. Holt attended school in Marshfield and Barre, VT and graduated from Littleton High School in Littleton, NH.  He married Helen J. Moeller on October 20, 1945 and shortly thereafter joined the Army Air Forces where he became a pilot and served during the occupation of Germany in World War II.  After the military, Mr. Holt's professional flying career began with Northeast Airlines and eventually Delta Airlines.  During the 1980s he moved to Newnan, GA where he had the honor of flying the first transatlantic flight in Lockheed L-1011, a highlight of his career. He retired in 1986 after more than 30 years in aviation.  Mr. Holt was an avid hunter, fisherman, outdoorsman and family man.
Mr. Holt was Past Master of The Moose River Masonic Lodge in Concord, VT., Past District Deputy Grand Master, Grand Lodge of VT., Past Master of Gideon Masonic Lodge in Kingston, NH.  He was a 33 Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Portsmouth, NH, a member of the Bektash Shrine in Concord, NH, the York Rite, and the Knights Templar in Portsmouth, He was a Past Worthy Grand Patron of the Grand Chapter of NH Order of the Eastern Star, Past Patron of Corinthian-Queen Esther Chapter OES, and was also a member of the Airline Pilot's Association.
Family members include his wife of 70 years, Helen J. Holt of Kingston, NH; his children, Sharon Holt-Kidney of Dover, NH, Juanita C. Holt-Walters of Gallup Mills, VT, John E. Holt of Victory, VT, Rachel Holt-Murray of South Hampton, NH; his grandchildren include, Lt. Col. Maurice Holt-Kidney, Cpt. Harrison E. Walters, Celeste Holt-Walters, Jean Holt, Christie Won, Melissa Towne, Austin E. Murray and Matthew A. Murray.  He is also survived by his siblings Beverly Cox, Shirley Holt, Rosemary Sullivan, Kay Parton, Elaine Holt, Joann O'Brien; several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his siblings, Lloyd Holt, Dalton Holt and Lorraine Ballou.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, March 31, 2016, from 4 to 7 PM with a Masonic service to be held at 6 PM and an Order of the Eastern Star service to follow, at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, NH. 
Funeral services will be on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 11 AM, at the Triumphant Cross Lutheran Church, 171 Zion Hill Rd., Salem, NH. 
Burial with military honors will be in Riverside Cemetery in Lunenburg, VT later this spring.
A special thanks to the caregivers at Senior Class Adult Day Services (formerly Sarah Care) in Hampstead, NH for their loving care for Mr. Holt.

Family members write us of the passing of their brother Capt. Gene Greatti, age 62.  From the Valley Forge Signal Seekers (Radio Controlled Model Airplane Club) newsletter we read that "Gene has been a pilot since he was a teenager, having a pilot's license before he obtained a driver's license. He is a U.S.A.F. veteran and flew many large transport type aircraft while in the service."  Captain Greatti began his commercial flying career with Northwest Airlines on 12-16-1985.  Captain Greatti had been fighting cancer these past seven years and most recently been cared for by hospice.  He is survived by his wife Lisa.  Services for Captain Greatti will be held Monday, March 28th at 11AM, at Our Lady Help of Christians church located at 1500 Marian Road in Abington PA. Viewing will be from 9-11AM prior to the Funeral Mass.
