News has reached us with the passing of RNPA member retired Northwest pilot Captain Homer Francis Sutter, age 97. 

Capt. Sutter is survived by his wife Dorothy and had most recently resided at

1913 Creek View Ct., Chanhassen, MN 55317-7418.

Homer F. 'Red' Sutter

Sutter, Homer F. "Red" of Chanhassen and Bloomington MN, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2016 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy, his 3 children, Beth Sutter, Sandra Sutter (Tom Price), Patrick Sutter (Annie) and his five grandsons, Danny, Teddy, and Willy Sutter, Thomas Sutter-Price, and Aaron Maxson. Red lived 97 wonderful years. A lifelong aviator, he was legendary among his fellow Northwest Airline pilots, where he capped his 35 year career flying the flagship 747, retiring in 1978 as senior captain. He had a great sense of humor and was an amazing story teller. He loved to tell stories from his flying career and was able to recall the details as if they happened yesterday. Most of all, Red enjoyed spending time with his family and keeping up on all of his grandson's activities. He will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 15th at 2:00pm, with visitation one hour prior at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 301 County Road 19, Excelsior, MN 55331.

Notification with the passing of retired Delta pilot Captain Arthur 'Art' L. Dirkse, age 73. Captain Dirkse joined Delta Air Lines 11-06-1972 and was based CVG and ATL/030.  He is survived by his wife Jan.

Obituary.....................Art (Arthur) Dirkse, 73, passed away on August 11, 2016.
He was born to Herman & Genevieve Dirkse in Holland in 1943.
Art is survived by his wife, Jan (Wiersma); and children, Leah Dirkse, and Joe & Jibbie Dirkse. Brothers and sisters, Rich & Carol Dirkse, Lois Morera, Roger Dirkse, Phil & Jan Plasman, and Pennie Tomlinson; and many cousins; nieces; and nephews.
Art was a graduate of Holland High and received his Bachelors of Finance from Michigan State University. He was a Vietnam veteran and a pilot for Delta Airlines for 32 years. He enjoyed golf, motorcycles, political and philosophical discussions, completing his daily crossword puzzle, and ice cream.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 17 from 5-7 p.m. at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th Street, Holland. Memorial services will be held Thursday, August 18 at 11 a.m. at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home.

News has reached us with the passing of Delta Pioneers member retired Delta Air Lines dispatcher William Edward 'Ed' Kincheloe, age 87.  Ed was widowed in 2009 with the passing of his wife LaVerne.  He had most recently resided at

2588 Dancing Waters Drive, Jonesboro  GA 30236-4052.

Obituary.........................William Edward Kincheloe

William Edward Kincheloe was born July 7, 1929 in Church Hill, TN. He passed away on Wednesday August 10, 2016, after residing in Jonesboro, GA since 1977. He was a graduate of Church Hill High School and Carson Newman College, veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force, employed by Delta Airlines for 36 years, and a member of First Baptist Church of Forest Park. Edward enjoyed re-connecting with family, former classmates and co-workers. He enjoyed collecting and writing about Kincheloe family genealogy, local history, events and trivia. Edward was preceded in death by his wife, LaVerne Vogt Kincheloe (2009) and son, William Kevin Kincheloe (2016), and brother, Ernest Kincheloe (2013). Survivors are brothers, Samuel (Carol) Kincheloe of Maryville, TN and Gerald (Janie) Kincheloe of Gray, TN. Other survivors include nieces, Terri (Ron) Ricketts of Cleveland, TN, Greta Shelton of Church Hill, TN, Jan (Jim) Voris-Atlanta, Kelly Kincheloe of Knoxville, TN and nephews, Wes (Shanna) Kincheloe of Johnson City, TN, John (Karen) Trotter of Maryville, TN and several great nieces and nephews. A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday August 20, 2016 at the Morrow Cemetery near the First Baptist Church of Morrow. A. S. Born 1934 in Lincoln, AL to Lorene Merkl and Shelton McCall Allred. A Fremont CA resident for 26 years and previously of Lincoln, AL and Reno, NV.  He attended Auburn University (52-55) and achieved a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with specialty in Entomology
Was a Navy veteran: LCDR USNR M.O. "Moose" Allred (56-67 active duty and reserve 67-76). He continued his love of flying and was a Professional Pilot for Hughes Air West, Northwest Airlines retiring in 1994

Moose has Flown West.  He broke a leg a while back and his health began a slow decline and he walked on this morning at age 83.

Captain Allred lived in the Bay are, Concord I believe.

Obituary.............Carolyn Riley Baker

Carolyn Riley Baker, 71, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016 at the Hospice of the Golden Isles. Carolyn was born in Wichita, KS, Mar. 19, 1945 to the late Col. James Randle Riley, Sr. (USAF retired), and the late Roberta Lee Lovern Riley. She graduated from Johnson High School in Yakota, Japan at the United States Air Force Base. She earned her BS degree in criminal justice from Mercer University in Macon, GA in 1992. She worked for Delta Airlines for 31 years, from Oct. 3, 1965 – Aug.1, 1996, as a flight attendant.

Carolyn was a member of the Ninety-Nines (Women's Pilot Organization) for 30 years. She was also a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Darien, Ga., and served as President of Episcopal Church Women. She was an active member of The Vestry, and Altar Guild. She was a trained volunteer with CASA, and voted 2014 Volunteer of the year.

Carolyn resided in McIntosh County since 1999. She was a private pilot since 1972, and owned her own airplane. She loved her Church, family, and traveling with her husband, very much.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her stepson Samuel W. "Chip" Baker, IV.
Survivors include her husband of 42 years Winn Baker of Darien, GA; step- daughter Candy Baker of Brunswick, GA; brothers Robert Eugene Riley (Hazel) of Ogden, UT, and James Randle Riley, Jr. (Diane) of Wetumpka, AL.

Family requests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions made to the Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA 31520

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2016, at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016, at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Darien, GA., with Father Ted Clarkson officiating. Burial, will follow at Palmetto Cemetery. Serving pallbearers will be Lance Toland, Leo Owens, John Dunham, Dave Sapp, Tony Loreno, and Joe Jurskis.
