'Bob' Schorr.  I believe the cause of death was pneumonia.  We had enjoyed the DGW Christmas party with the Ivey's and the Schorr's and more than a hundred other guests just a few weeks ago and she was in great health at that time.

Mrs. Essie Lathan Schorr of East Point passed away on January 3, 2017. Mrs. Schorr was the daughter of the late George Lawrence and Rachael Victoria Lathan. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert F. (Bob) Schorr ; daughter, Valerie Bennington of Peachtree City; son, Robert Schorr and his wife, Kristi of Dallas, GA; grandchildren, Victoria Little and her husband Ray of Montgomery , AL; Andrew Whatley of Galveston, TX; Kenzie Schorr of Acworth; Zachary Schorr of Acworth; Kole Schorr of Dallas, GA; great grandchildren, Reese Little, Reagan Little and Blakely Schorr; several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 1 o’clock at St. Mathew Catholic Church , 215 Kirkley Road, Tyrone, GA. Interment services will follow at Westview Cemetery. Richard Norman Obituary........................................

Richard E. Norman (Captain Dick Norman) age 91 and resident of Tallahassee passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2016. Dick was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by Kathleen W. Norman, his wife of 71 years, five children: Gloria W. Kohlmann (James), Richard E. Norman III, David W. Norman (Nancy), Nancy K. Sharp (Lawrence), Daniel T. Norman (Katherine), twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

 

Dick was born in Jacksonville, FL on October 3, 1925, the son of Richard and Gloria Norman. Gloria was the founder of Gloria Norman School of Dancing (Arlington). Richard was a pioneer in the production of silent films in the early 1920s, Norman Studios Motion Pictures (Arlington). Dick was on the board of directors of Norman Studios Silent Film Museum and lived to see his family legacy listed on the National Register of Historic Places and recent designation as a National Historic Landmark.

 

At the age of 17, Dick joined the Army Air Corps and was a B25 pilot during WWII. After the war he became a commercial airline pilot, flying for National Airlines and Pan American Airways for 32 years. He loved to fly and promoted aviation safety as a national representative for ALPA (Airline Pilots Association) and as a member of IFALPA (International Federation of Airline Pilots Association), focusing on federal government safety regulations. Upon retirement, Dick continued his support of aviation safety through the FAA WINGS Pilot Proficiency Program in Leon County, educating private pilots on safe handling of aircraft and accident reduction practices.

 

Dick Norman was devoted to God and had boundless pride and passion for his family. His positive attitude, words of encouragement and contagious smile will be remembered by those who knew him briefly and those who knew him well.

 

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 7th at 11:00 am at Deer Lake United Methodist Church, 8013 Deerlake Road South. Following the service, an internment ceremony will be held at Culley's MeadowWood Memorial Park, 700 Timberlane Road. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308.

Stephen George Kaminski II passed away on December 30, 2016 after fighting a battle with cancer. Steve recently retired as a Boeing 777 Captain for Delta Air Lines. Steve started his airline career with Wien Air Alaska in 1974, was hired by Western Air Lines in 1977 and retired from Delta October 3, 2016.

 

Steve was a loving husband to Denise Kaminski and a proud father of Stephen Kaminski III, Deven Cason and her husband Cory Cason, Tairyn Mosley and her husband, Bryan Mosley, and Jonathan Kaminski. Steve also leaves behind three deeply cherished grandchildren, CJ Cason, 5, Paisley Mosley, 2, and Elliana Cason, 1, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and an outpouring of extended family and friends. His extended family included all of those employed at Delta, as he spent numerous birthdays and holidays, and shared many trying times with so many of them over the course of his career.

Stephen George Kaminski II, 65, Atlanta, GA died Friday, December 30, 2016 after fighting a battle with cancer. The funeral will be held on Saturday, January 7th at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church (240 Arnold St, Hapeville, GA 30354) at 1 p.m., followed by his burial with military honors at the College Park Cemetery (3600 Adams St, College Park, GA 30337).

 

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 6th at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Garden: 5755 Mallory Rd, College Park, GA 30349

 

Steve was born October 4, 1951 and was a descendent of Stephen George Kaminski and Philomena Kaminski in Biloxi, Mississippi. He attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona, FL with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics, and a Masters in Aviation Management from Delta State University.

 

Steve was an Airline pilot for over 40 years, including 25 years as Captain. During this period, he flew numerous military charter flights using REACH call sign during Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and Iraqi Freedom. Steve was well known around the world, establishing friendships everywhere he went. He always placed the best interest of others before himself. Drinks are being shared from continent to continent while memories and laughs are being told in his honor.

 

Steve and Denise have strong ties with two organizations they held dear to their heart, St Jude Children's Research Foundation and the Mississippi State Guard. Steve achieved the rank of Colonel and was personally selected to serve as the Deputy Commander of the organization, which involved assisting in Emergency Preparation for the state of Mississippi.

 

Steve will be missed by all those who knew him. He has changed the lives and inspired many. His memory will live on in the lives and the work of those he influenced. Please keep his family in friends and your thoughts and prayers.

We have received word with the passing of WA/DL pilot Captain Stephen G. Kaminski II, age 65.  Captain Kaminski joined Western Airlines 08-01-1977 and was based CVG and ATL with Delta Air Lines.  He is the father of son Steve who is a FO B7ER based JFK.  Captain Kaminski passed due to complications Stage IV lung cancer.  He is survived by his wife Denise and their children.  Services will be held Saturday, January 7th with visitation the evening prior...please see below....with a reception and celebration of life event following services on Saturday.

The family invites all of the Delta family to attend...arrangements entrusted to Forest Lawn Mortuary of College Park, Georgia.

His son wrote the following to some of his Dad’s best friends:
It's with great sadness I write to you today, but because you meant so much to my dad, I wanted to inform you that last night, he passed away at Emory University Hospital. According to my Mom, he was having trouble breathing while at home around 11AM and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. A short 12-hours later, he stopped breathing completely.
I know that he loved his job at Delta so much and the crews he flew with regularly, so much more. I thank you for all of the prayers and support you gave him these past few months...it truly meant the world to him. He told me over Christmas that he lived a long and happy life, that he had no regrets and that he was blessed to have seen and done all that he has.
I wish you and your family, a happy New Year!

We recently received word that RNPA member retired Northwest pilot Captain Fred Calvin Ellsworth has passed away.  Captain Ellsworth was 86 years of age at the time of his passing.  He joined Northwest Airlines 02-02-1953 and retired with Northwest in 1987.  Information received so far indicates memorial services will be held January 9th with the Davis Funeral Home of Las Vegas entrusted with arrangements   http://www.davisfuneralservices.com/   (702) 736-6200. 

Captain Ellsworth had most recently resided at

It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of Fred Ellsworth's Flight West.

He made his takeoff on 28 December 2016.

His service will be at 1100 on 9 January 2017 at Davis Mortuary located at 6200 S. Eastern Ave. .

The NWA pilots have much to be thankful for Fred's work on Council 54 during some of the dark days of our careers.

Personally, I have lost a very dear friend and sponsor for my membership in The Quiet Birdmen.

Would you please notify RNPA of Fred's trip West? I'd appreciate it very much.

News has reached us with the passing of Delta Golden Wings member retired C&S/DL pilot Captain George Maynard, age 89 and nearing his 90th birthday.  George is the father of Braniff/USAirways/AA pilot John E. Maynard and also the brother of retired Braniff pilot Captain Don Maynard.  Captain George Maynard joined Chicago & Southern 05-07-1951 and retired with Delta Air Lines in 1987 based DFW.  

He is survived by his wife Olga.

George Maynard, a native of New Orleans and resident of River Ridge, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones, on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 9:10 PM. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Olga Day Maynard; Five children, John E. Maynard (Kathryn Carr Maynard), Christine Maynard Felder (William E. Felder), George D. Maynard (Andrea Maitrejean Maynard), Mary Maynard Hankel and Daniel D. Maynard; Six grandchildren, John E. Maynard, Jr., Amanda K. Maynard, Jennifer Hankel Joy, Richard J. Hankel, Erica A. Maynard and Rebecca L. Maynard; Five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; One brother, Donald P. Maynard of Dallas, TX and one sister, Sue M. Steel of Corando, CA. George is preceded in death by his parents, Christine D'Amico Maynard and John E. Maynard; One sister, Betty Maynard. He graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in Mechanical Engineering. He was employed by T. L. James before being hired by Delta Airlines in 1951 as a Commercial Pilot. George flew with Delta Airlines for thirty-six years and was a member of Delta Golden Wings and was War World II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. He was active in real estate and an avid tennis player. In his youth, he was awarded the Carnegie Medal for bravery …. After retirement, George purchased a J-3 Piper Cub airplane and flew his children and grandchildren well into his 80's. He was a parishioner of St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church and member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Matthew the Apostle Council No. 13425. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at the J. Garic Schoen Chapel of JACOB SCHOEN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 3827 Canal St. on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 11:00 AM.
