Word has reached our group with the passing of Western/Delta pilot Captain Lloyd Frederick Wittenburg, age 76 (discrepancy noted with roster year of birth and the age indicated by obituaries...CF).  Captain Wittenburg joined Western Airlines 01-20-1964 and retired with Delta Air Lines, as of June 2001 as Line Check Pilot, based 031/ATL.

Captain Lloyd F Wittenburg  of Palestine, Texas

May 15, 1942 - Aug 6, 2017 (Age 74)

Services for Captain Lloyd F. Wittenburg of Palestine will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Evangelistic Temple with Pastor James Henderson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster. Mr. Wittenburg died Sunday, August 6, 2017 at his home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks instead for memorial donations to be made to Redeemed Riders #654, the local chapter of Christian Motorcyclist Association of which Lloyd was a proud member and supporter. Word has been received with the passing of retired Northeast/Delta pilot Captain Robert Anthony Lord, age 77.  Captain Lord joined Northeast Airlines 11-04-1968 and retired with Delta Air Lines in 2000, based JFK/031.  Services for Captain Lord are planned for this Friday, August 11th in York, Maine....please see obituary and service information below.

Robert Anthony Lord

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. and EAST BOOTHBAY, Maine - Robert Anthony Lord, 77, of Market St., died on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, from complications of multiple myeloma.

Born June 19, 1940 in Rochester, N.H., and raised in Lebanon, Maine, a son of the late Robert H. and Joan M. (Hough) Lord, he graduated from St. Francis College (University of New England ), Biddeford Pool, Maine. A former teacher at Saint Ignatius HS, Sanford, and Saint Anthony's Monastery, Kennebunk Beach, Bob flew for 30 years with North East and Delta Air Lines, retiring as an international captain in 2000.

Bob and his wife of 50 years, Frances "Franny" (Herman) raised their children in York, Maine.

He leaves his wife; son, Nathan F. Lord and wife Sarah (Guy) and their children Sam and Elizabeth of Waterbury, Vt.; daughter, Ellen S. Michniewicz and husband John and their children Emerson, Raigen and Larkin of York, Maine; brother, Jeremy M. Lord and wife Mary of Longmeadow, Mass.; two sisters, Virginia M. Lord Randall and husband James of Parkersburg, W. Va.; and Robyn F. Austin and husband Donald and sons Joshua and Gregory of Somersworth, N.H.; and also nephews and nieces, Jason Lord and family of New Canaan, Conn.; Emily Lord Beach and family of Burlingame, Calif., and Joshua and Gregory Austin and Christina Austin Cuzzi and family of Bedford, N.H. His extended family, including Ellen Herman and husband Paul Dinkel, and many many friends including Harold Jones and James Carlton, will miss this extraordinary man.

SERVICES: A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 11 at the First Parish Church, 180 York St., York, Maine.

Capt. Leonard Guiton made his Last Flight on July 30. A Celebration of Life for Leonard will be on August 19th at 11 a.m. followed by a luncheon reception at Rolling Hills United Methodist church .at the corner of Crenshaw and Palos Verdes Drive North (Next door to Country Day School).  You can park behind the church  or at Country Day School.

Obituary..............................

Mr. Richard Danforth "Dick" Hinkley, age 82, of Cumming, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017, after a brief battle with cancer. Dick was born in Greenfield, MA on May 17, 1935, graduated from Greenfield High School, class of 1953, and the University of Massachusetts in 1957 with a B.S. in Forestry. He married his hometown sweetheart, Alice Shippey Hinkley and served in the United States Army before moving on to a 10-year career with the United States Forest Service. Dick became interested in flying airplanes, became a licensed pilot and joined Delta Airlines in 1966. He retired after 30 years of service flying for Delta.

 

Dick first and foremost loved everything about motorcycles and enjoyed many trips with friends and family. He also enjoyed boating, fishing, gardening and his pets.

 

Dick is predeceased by his parents, Lawrence Hinkley and Mabel Defraine Hinkley; sons, James W. Hinkley and David A. Hinkley; sister, Marilyn Krupp.

 

Survivors include his wife, Alice S. Hinkley; daughter, Mary Gail Britt (Mike); son, Jeffrey A. Hinkley; grandsons, David Hinkley and Devin Britt; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 24 at 2 p.m. at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Monday from 1 p.m. until hour of the service.

 

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Dick's memory to The American Cancer Society.
