Obituary.............................

Charles Harold Quinn, age 91, of Denton, Texas passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2017. Charles was born in 1926 to Otis and Ada Cox. In 1943 he joined the U.S. Navy and served for 2 years and 9 months. Later, Charles became an pilot for Delta Airlines until his retirement.

 

To honor his life, a funeral service will be held at 12:30pm on Monday in the chapel at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home. The family will host a visitation on Sunday from noon to 3pm at the funeral home. He will be buried following the service in the Memorial Park. Military honors will be rendered by the U.S. Navy.

We have just received news with the passing of Delta Golden Wings member retired Delta pilot Captain Herbert ‘Herb’ Field Kerr Jr., age 78.  Captain Kerr joined Delta Air Lines on his birthday 08-05-1963 and retired January 1997, based 030/ATL.  He had most recently resided at

Herbert F Kerr, age 78, died peacefully in Atlanta, Georgia July 26, 2017. Herb was born August 5, 1938 in Patterson, New Jersey. He attended The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina and after graduation entered the Air Force. Herb loved to fly and became a pilot for Delta Airlines in Atlanta, Georgia. He loved cars and was a Formula One racing enthusiast. Herb was an avid runner competing in numerous marathons including thirteen Boston Marathons. Survivors include his brother Douglas Kerr Sr., a nephew Douglas Kerr Jr. and niece Kristen Kerr as well as several grand nieces and nephews. Herb had many friends in Atlanta, Georgia, New Harbor, Maine and St. Simon's Island, Georgia.

VINSANT, Peter Edee.....age 82, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017 surrounded by family. He died peacefully in his sleep after fighting a three-month battle against lymphoma.

Peter "Pete" Vinsant was born on January 24, 1935 in Pawnee City, Nebraska, to Ray and Gwendolyn Vinsant.

He spent much of his childhood in Summerfield, Kansas, absorbing his father's passion for flying. After Shattuck-St. Mary's, he graduated from the University of Nebraska where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity.

Peter served his country as an officer with the rank of Lt. Commander in the Navy and later the Navy Reserve for eight years, including two tours flying patrol bombers during the Cold War. In 1966, he was written up as a hero when he safely landed his military aircraft after the engines caught on fire, saving the lives of those onboard.

His career took him all over the world. For 31 years, Peter was a pilot for Northwest Airlines, retiring as one of the most senior Captains, flying the 747-400.

Peter married his wife, Wendy Vinsant, in 1977 and the two spent most of their 40 years together at their lake home in Wisconsin and their winter residence in St. Petersburg, FL.

He spent his spare time playing golf, boating, riding motorcycles, and horses, snow skiing, traveling the world, storytelling, volunteering at the VA hospital, playing with his dogs, and being a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved everyone and his infectious smile, kind heart and great sense of humor made it easy for everyone to love him back.

Peter is survived by his spouse Wendy Vinsant; children, Ron (Nancy) Vinsant and Diana (Bob) Davis; grandchildren, Michael (Christie) Davis, Stephanie Davis, Rachel Davis, Ivor Vinsant and Aris Vinsant; sister, Pat Hoffman, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Gwendolyn; and daughter, Valerie Vinsant.

A burial service in Minnesota and a celebration of life in Florida this fall are pending. Memorials preferred to the Special Olympics of Florida (1915 Don Wickham Drive, Clermont, FL 34711) or the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (1137 Marbella Plaza Drive, Tampa, FL 33619).

LOCK HAVEN, PA., SATURDAY, JULY 16, 1966  SEARCHING FOR LOST PROPERTY - Members of the crew of the Navy Neptune which burned after making a forced landing at the Lock Haven Airport Thursday evening, searched the wreckage for their personal effects yesterday. Robert Logan Cassedy, 79, of Fayetteville, passed away on August 10, 2017. He was born in Jacksonville, FL on October 28, 1937 to the late Charles and Carrie Cassedy. He was a retired pilot with Delta Air Lines with 37 years of service.

Robert is survived by his wife of 48 years, Phyllis Clark Cassedy; his sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Charles Turner of Orange Park, FL; his nephews, Todd and Kathryn Turner of Phoenix, AZ and Chuck Turner of Gainesville, FL; his sister-in-law, Gerry Clark Lindequist of Manlius, NY; his niece, Laura and Mehul Malik and grand-niece, Lila Malik of Vienna, Austria; and his nephew, Thomas Lindequist of Syracuse, NY.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Westview Cemetery, 1680 Westview Drive, Atlanta, GA, with Dr. J. W. Wallis officiating. Prior to entering service, he obtained his pilots license in 1940 through the Civilian Pilots Training (CPT) program. At the age of 21, he enlisted in Los Angeles on November 7th 1941. After flight training, where he flew the PT-19A, BT-13, AT-6 and the B-24, he was assigned to Ellington Field, Houston Texas as a B-24 instructor. Not being content with being an instructor, he requested and was transferred to the Eight Air Force in England.  Capt. Stone was assigned to the Second Division 466 Bomb Group 786 Squadron. He flew 32 missions which included Berlin. He received the Air Metal DFC.  After returning to the states he was assigned to Alamogordo New Mexico where he flew B-24s as targets for students in pursuit school.   From there, in 1945, he went to Lowry Field, Flight Engineer School in Denver, again flying B-24s equipped to train B-29 flight engineers. He remained in the Air Force until January 6th 1946 where he was discharged in San Antonio Texas.  After discharge he flew, as a Captain, for TWA, Western Airlines, Arrow and Flying Tigers until he retired in 1980. Wes married and had three children, a boy and two girls.................

Obituary....................

Westcot Bell Stone III, was born on August 23, 1920, in Los Angeles, California. He passed away on August 8, 2017. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Stone Moore, his son, Westcot Bell Stone IV, and his grandchildren Ashley, Hunter and Hannah. Wes was predeceased by his former wife, Bette and his second daughter Kimberley. Wes passed away peacefully in his home where he lived for 61 years.

Wes was born in the front seat of his father's brand new 1920 Buick, which was the beginning of his adventurous life. In 1929 he and his family took a seaplane to Avalon, California to see the opening of the casino. It was then when Wes fell in love with the plane and the ocean. Wes built Dory boats in high school and used them to travel to Catalina with his friends and brother every summer. During their summers they would dive for coins to support their stay on the island. After graduating high school Wes entered University of Southern California and took flying lessons. Two years later Wes entered the Army Air Corps during WWII. He became the pilot in command of the B-24 Liberator named 'The Mad Monk" which was the name of one of his boats. He flew 32 missions and brought he and his entire crew home safely. His brother was not as fortunate and lost his life while flying a P-40 in WWII.

Wes became a pilot for Western Airlines in 1946 where he would work for 34 years. He always said he never worked a day in his life because he loved his job so much. Between trips his passion was sailing. He had many boats over the years and would include his friends on his trips. During the last two years while working at Western Airlines Wes was based in Honolulu, HI. So he and his family sailed his Cal46 from Redondo Beach, CA to Kaneohe, Hi. He used his boat as a place to stay and rest while he was between flights. Wes loved to travel and included his family on many interesting vacations, so in addition to sailing with his family to Hawaii they also travelled to Mexico, the British West Indies and Europe to name a few.

During his life he was a member of King Harbor Yacht Club (KHYC), Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club (CBYC), Kaneohe Yacht Club (KYC) and he was the Commodore of the Buccaneer Yacht Club (BUCYC). He enjoyed many years at all of the clubs.

Later in life he began an exhaustive search for his brother Earl who crashed in the Philippines during WWII. Earl's crash site was located and searched for DNA, however the search was unsuccessful. Wes was hoping to bring closure for his family and for himself before he died. It was the only piece of unfinished business for him but his family has promised to carry on until Earl's crash site is verified.

Wes lived his life to the fullest. He had such a positive attitude, everything was "doable" and he enjoyed every minute of his 96 years.
