Captain Terry Crowell

December 19, 1935 ~ November 11, 2021 (age 85) 

Captain H. Terry Crowell of Salado, Texas went West on his final flight, November 11th, 2021, at his residence with his wife, Patricia by his side.  Terry was born in Montezuma, Georgia on December 19, 1935 to Terry Crowell and Willodean Davis Crowell.  He went to grade schools in Montezuma and attended the University of Georgia. 

After attending the university he moved to Tampa, Florida where he went on with Delta Air Lines ground service and then moved to San Francisco to work the reservations and worked as a Red Coat agent in the San Francisco terminal with Delta.  During his time in San Francisco, he learned to fly privately and in 1965, the big hiring speer started with the airlines for pilots.  He went to Miami, Florida to apply with National Airlines and was hired September 29, 1965.  His career started with flying Lockheed Electra, 4 engine aircraft, then moved on to the Boeing 727's, McDonnell Douglas DC-8's and the McDonnell Douglas DC-10's.  Then, on January 07, 1980, Pan American Airways acquisition of National was completed, with Pan American World Airways taking over the National Airlines fleet and route network.  He and fellow pilots went to Toulouse, France to train and bring home the first four AirBus 300's adding to Pan Am’s fleet. Pan Am went on to acquire the AirBus 310 which Terry flew.  In 1991 Pan American went bankrupt and ceased operations in December 1991.  At that time Pan American transferred much of their assets to Delta Air Lines and Terry moved on to Delta Air Lines.  He flew the Boeing 757 and 767/767 ER, up to his time of retirement in February 01, 2001. 

During his flying, he met the love of his life, Patricia Fowler, a flight attendant on a flight they were working together going to San Francisco. Two weeks later, he asked her to marry him and six months later they were married April 29, 1972 in Miami Springs, Florida.  They have flown all over the world and had the opportunities to live in Osaka, Japan, Bangkok, Thailand and Toulouse, France. They saw and enjoyed the world together.  They lived in Miami, Florida, Charlotte, North Carolina, Kalispell, Montana and retired in Salado, Texas. 

Terry is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patricia Crowell of Salado, Texas.  He is preceded in death by his father, Terry Crowell of Panama, his mother Willodean Crowell Babineau of Newnan, Georgia and grandmother, Lillie Davis of Atlanta, Georgia. 

Funeral services for Captain Crowell will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 2:00 pm at the Sharon Memorial Park Mausoleum. Due to entombment, flowers will be limited. If you wish, send flowers to Patricia at their home.

Obituary : Larry Alan Moore

Spartanburg, SC- Larry Alan (Al) Moore, 82, flew his final flight into the arms of his Lord on Monday, November 8, 2021 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

 

Born September 23, 1939 in Charlotte, NC, he was the son of the late Larry and Virginia Helms Moore.  He graduated from Clemson University in 1961 with an engineering degree.  After graduating, he fulfilled his lifelong dream of flying planes.  As a Navy pilot for five years, he excelled in flying F8 fighter jets off carriers.  After serving in the Navy, he flew for Delta Airline and retired after thirty years.

 

Surviving are his wife, Ann Echerd Moore, two daughters Margaret "Margo" McNaughton (Allan) of Cary, NC, Terrell Bennett (Micah) of Watkinsville, GA, step son John (Jay) Todd (Laura) of Charlotte, NC, brother Michael Moore, sister, Barbara Johnston, both of Charlotte, NC, four grandchildren, Ellis Alexander, Sophia Ciamillo, Genevieve Ciamillo, and Francesca Ciamillo.  He is predeceased by a brother, Jeff Moore.

 

To all who knew him, he followed all things political, was a “toolster” and passionate about his customized 1973 240Z Datsun.

Obituary : Keith Bernard Hagstette of Cumming, Georgia passed away on Friday, November 5th, 2021 at the age of 81.  A devoted family man, Keith is survived by Ann, his wife of 60 years; his two children, Todd (wife Elise) and Eric (wife Kim); his three grandchildren, Macy, Levi, and Davis; and his sister, Karen Holliman.

 

Over the span of a 40-year career with Delta Airlines, Keith was involved in many aspects of flight operations, culminating in being a Duty Director of the Operations Control Center. He also held other positions within the company which resulted in many fascinating stories and memories.

 

Yet, it was his involvement with his family and friends, not his job, by which he primarily defined himself.  A loving and selfless husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, Keith dedicated himself to the generous giving of his time, resources, and affections to helping those around him and increasing the net happiness of the world.  In particular, his grandchildren always benefited from his kind and caring nature (as well as his flexible commitment to their parents’ rules about snacks, bedtimes, and mischief).

 

Keith was well known for his devilish sense of humor and his propensity for practical jokes.  Eyeglasses left unattended would soon be smeared with butter, a pocketed grape stem would end up under the covers at the foot of someone’s bed, and woe-is-be to the unlucky telemarketer who called when Keith had some time on his hands. Despite his prankster ways, Keith was unerring in his kindness and generosity, never stingy with his high-quality compliments to friends and strangers alike. We hope you were the lucky recipient of one.

 

Keith will be sorely missed by all who knew him.  His combination of wisdom, charm, consideration, and joy were rare and unlikely to be seen again any time soon.  Keith, Dad, Odie – we love you so.

Obituary : James Albert (Jim) Moyle

Scottsdale AZ – James Albert (Jim) Moyle passed away peacefully, November 2, 2021. He was born January 23, 1930 to Dr. Chester and Helen Bird Moyle in San Francisco, CA. He was raised in Merced, CA, attended Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Elementary School then graduated from Menlo Preparatory School in Menlo Park, CA. He attended University of Southern California School of Aviation in Santa Maria, CA. He then enlisted in the USAF and served at Nellis AFB, NV and Ladd Field, Fairbanks, AK where he served as Operator of Link Trainor training pilots. On completing his service he flew as pilot for Wein Air in Alaska before being hired by Bonanza Airlines in Las Vegas NV.

 

In 1966 he moved to Phoenix, AZ to continue his flying career and in 1969 he met and married Jeannine Junk. They were married 52 years 48 of them living in the Pinnacle Peak area. In 1990 Jim retired as Captain from Northwest Airlines (now Delta).

 

Jim's passion was aviation having flown passengers over the San Juaquin Valley starting at the age of 17. He always owned aircraft and was honored as the recipient of the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award for flying 50 consecutive years without incident.

 

From age 5 to 50 every summer, except when he was in the Service, he packed and camped in the High Sierras. He enjoyed hiking the mountains, the Grand Canyon, Paria Canyon, and trails all over the West. He was an avid water skier and at the age of 40, on a single ski, along with a sixteen year old friend, Jackie Brasher, he skied non-stop, the entire perimeter of Lake Tahoe.

 

Jim enjoyed snow skiing, swimming, boating on Lake Powell, and any activity outdoors. His favorite pastime though, was flying his RV-4 anywhere. He so enjoyed the comradery of fellow pilots. Those he worked with, the ones he knew through the "Silver Eagles", and the "United Flying Octogenarians". On any given day he could always be found visiting good friends at the hangars at Falcon Field or Deer Valley Airport.

 

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his nephew Kenny Leap, and a former brother-in-law Ken Leap and brother-in-law Sonny Dimock. He is survived by his wife Jeannine, his sister Barbara Dimock, nephew Jim Leap, nephew Ken's wife Regina Aragon-Leap, brothers-in-law Sam Junk (Grace), Bill Junk (Jan) and many nieces, nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.

 

A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Joy Catholic Church (Pima & Cave Creek Rd) Wed. Nov. 10, at 10:00am. Visitation and Rosary will be at Messinger Mortuary, Pinnacle Peak Nov. 9, 4 – 6pm
