 : DOUGLAS HAACK OBITUARY

Douglas Henry Haack, age 67, unexpectedly passed away en route to the hospital on the morning of March 10, 2023 Crested Butte, CO, where he lived. He was a graduate of Regis University in Denver, CO, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Following graduation, he married his high school sweetheart Teresa (Terri) Ann (née O'Hayre) in 1978, and the two were married for nearly 45 years until the day of his passing.

Following a career as Director of Economic Development at the Boulder, CO, Chamber of Commerce, Doug spent several years as a flight instructor at the Williamsburg, VA, regional airport before achieving a lifelong dream of becoming a commercial airline pilot. He spent many years as a First Officer for United Airlines, and then as a Captain for Delta Airlines, and he was also a proprietor of his own small business, Digital Photogenics, LLC., where he worked until his retirement.

Doug was a lifelong skier, avid golfer, professional photographer, and an accomplished traditional and graphic artist. He is survived by his wife Terri, son Brian, brother Daniel (Bonnie), and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends. He was preceded in death by both parents, Robert and Jane, and eldest brother David. Funeral services will take place at Holy Family Catholic Church on Saturday, March 18, at 9:30 AM, immediately followed by burial services at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity Greater Los Angeles, or to the Crested Butte Mountain Rescue Team.

Rob was my advance guard, I was born two years later than he with a twin sister, same as Rob, we both swam in high school and college, we both sailed to the South Pacific, we both joined the Navy and became pilots, we both were hired by Western Airlines then retired from Delta and we both love animals.

Rob was one of the most congenial men I have ever known.  I will miss him

Rob is survived by his wife, Robin, two brothers, Bruce and Dean, four children, Tracy, Banning, William, and Lynette, and five grandchildren, Kenny, Cammie, Madi, Daisy, and Lark. Margaret Copp Bromschwig, formerly of Golden Valley and Wayzata, MN; Naples, FL; and Gull Lake, MN passed away September 16, 2015 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

She was born August 23, 1926 in Springfield, IL to John and Apollona Copp, the oldest of 7 children. She grew up in an active household where family, ideas, adventure and education were prized. She graduated from Ursuline Academy and attended Springfield Junior College where she caught the eye of Bob Bromschwig, whom she married in 1949. He flew her away to Minneapolis, where she landed her plum job as Assistant to the Director of the Walker Art Center.

Notice of passing…..retired Delta Air Lines pilot Captain Richard Ballerini, age 81.  Captain Ballerini joined Delta Air Lines 12-02-1968.  He is survived by his wife Ann, and by his sons and their families.

Palm City FL - Richard Ballerini, 81, formerly of Gloucester, passed on February 10, 2023, at Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital in Port St. Lucie, FL, after a brief illness.

Richard, nicknamed "Bal" by many friends and family, was born in Queens, NY. He graduated from Brooklyn Automotive High School. After high school, he worked as a TWA mechanic, where his love for aviation motivated him to enroll in LaGuardia College of Aeronautics. After graduating he began his pilot's career, reaching the rank of Captain at Delta Airlines until he retired his wings. He also worked as a member of the International Operating Engineers Union in New York, for over 30 years and was part of several notable projects, including a 9/11 first responder for structural teardowns.

While working for Delta he met a beautiful flight attendant named Ann, now his surviving wife of 48 years. Richard and Ann's love fittingly led to the birth of their son Jamie Ballerini. Jamie, also a pilot, and his significant other, Jennifer, reside seasonally in Rockport, MA, and Palm City, FL. He is also survived by his son Richard "Richie" Ballerini, who lives in Bethlehem, PA, with his wife Christine and their four children, Lauren, Anthony, Jenna, and Jake. He was predeceased by his daughter, Donna Ballerini. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by his brother, John Ballerini, nephew, Danny Ballerini and predeceased by his parents, Andy and Lily.

Richard was known for being a true renaissance man with the unique ability to combine blue-collar work ethic with white-collar intelligence. He was one of the original NYC sport fishermen to come to Gloucester and pioneer competitive tuna fishing. His boats, always named Mrs. Robinson, are still recognized as some of the finest to enter the Gloucester harbor. A legacy his son Jamie has maintained. In addition to fishing, he loved building and racing motorcycles, competitive shooting, and spending time with his friends and family. Richard will be deeply missed.

TERRI GRIEDER OBITUARY

 

Henniker, NH - Terri Grieder, age 65 of Longview Drive passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Concord Hospital after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.

 

She was born in Gulfport, MS the daughter of Brooks and Audrey (Cooke) Powell. As the daughter of an Airforce Chief Master Sergeant she lived on many bases stateside and in Turkey and London before her family settled in Colorado Springs CO.

 

Terri worked as a flight attendant traveling all over the world for Delta Airlines for 34 years. She also worked as office assistant for the Henniker Police Department for almost 10 years. She loved gardening, gourmet cooking, decorating and needlepoint.

 

Terri is survived by her loving husband, Roy Grieder of Henniker.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at st.jude.org

 

The Waters Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
