DL pilot David William Hosang

On August 1, David was attending a neighborhood party when he was stung by a bee. In a matter of minutes, Dave went into anaphylactic shock. Despite the best effort of his friends on scene, EMT's, nurses and doctors, he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Upon passing, David gave the gift of life, donating his organs to save lives.

 

He worked for multiple airlines including IFL and SkyWest where he achieved his dream of becoming a captain. In May, he was hired at Delta Airlines, a coveted role that he was so proud to achieve.

 

David is survived by his parents, and by his sister and her family.

David was born on February 9, 1992, to Donald and Tammy Hosang. David was the spark and joy in their life. They describe him as loving, honest, witty, intelligent, mischievous and fun.

 

Growing up, David did everything with passion. He was animated and entertaining. He kept everyone on their toes with his antics. He loved to play sports, especially football and lacrosse. He attended Lake Orion schools where he met many lifelong friends. He graduated from Lake Orion High School in 2010.

 

With David, there was no one on the fringe. If you were one of his people, you were in for life. He maintained a close knit group of friends who knew him as reliable, comforting, sarcastic and incomparable. He was there for them, wholeheartedly.

 

Once David set his mind to something, you could guarantee he'd accomplish it. He dedicated years to extensive training in order to become an airline pilot. He graduated Western Michigan University's College of Aviation in 2016. He worked for multiple airlines including IFL and SkyWest where he achieved his dream of becoming a captain. In May, he was hired at Delta Airlines, a coveted role that he was so proud to achieve.

 

Though his job took him around the world, David's favorite place to be was with his family.

 

In the summer, Dave spent most of his time at the Kinnie family cottage. Horseshoe Lake was a gathering place for his cousins, aunts and uncles and grandparents. Together, they'd swim, do water sports, play wiffle ball, golf, ride motorcycles, and play yard games. David visited the cottage religiously all his life - to Dave it was and always had been home. He recently bought a house less than a half hour away so he could get there any time he could.

 

David had one sister Elizabeth, who he called Shorty. From the moment she was born he was her protector, confidant, tormentor (as only a brother can do) and fun maker. They were there for each other every step of the way. They bought property next to each other to build houses, be neighbors, and share their life. He designated himself as the godfather of her child,Carter, whom he loved so much.

 

Despite the many close relationships in his life, there was no one in this world David loved more than his dog Hank. Hank and Dave had similar personalities, they just got each other. They enjoyed walking in the woods, riding on his golf cart, cozying up on the couch.

 

His legacy is one of humor, heart and a deep unwavering love for the people he held close.

 

David is survived by his parents, Donald and Tammy Hosang; sister and brother-in-law, Brandon and Elizabeth Clements; nephew Carter; grandmother Janet Hosang; his loving extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents William and Dolores Kinnie and Charles Hosang.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks to donate to the David Hosang Memorial Aviation Scholarship at Western Michigan University.

DL Capt. Robert "Tracy" Cheatham III

USAF veteran, DL Capt. Robert "Tracy" Cheatham III

January 7, 1952 — August 3, 2025

 

Robert “Tracy” Cheatham III passed away at home on August 3, 2025. He was 73 years old. He adopted his life motto from the Air Force Academy: “Integrity First, Service Before Self, Excellence In All We Do.”

 

Tracy joined Delta Air Lines 08-15-1980 and was SLC based.  He is survived by his wife Cathy, and by his daughters and his stepsons and their families.  Services for Tracy will be held August 9^th in Crawford, Colorado….please see online obituary for details.

Robert “Tracy” Cheatham III passed away at home on August 3, 2025. He was 73 years old. He adopted his life motto from the Air Force Academy: “Integrity First, Service Before Self, Excellence In All We Do.”

 

His Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday August 9^th, 2025 at the Crawford Community Church at 1:00 PM. Please come and share your memories and thoughts about Tracy. Tracy was born on January 7^th, 1952 in Hollywood, California to Jane Anderson Cheatham and Robert Tracy Cheatham Junior. He graduated from Polytechnic High School in Pasadena and continued his education at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He graduated in 1974 with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science. He served our country in the United States Air Force for six years as a T-38 instructor pilot until July of 1980, finishing his service with a rank of Captain. He was hired by Delta Airlines in 1980 where he worked until 2005, completing his career there as a international Captain flying the Boeing 767. On the Western Slope he worked as a corporate and private pilot until he retired in 2022.  

 

He married Cathy Hansen on December 28^th, 1997 and they enjoyed 28 happy years together.  

 

In the fall of 2005, Tracy and Cathy moved from Utah to Crawford, Colorado where they have made their home for the last 20 years.

 

Tracy served on the Crawford Mesa Water Board for 16 years and was a staple of the Crawford community. Tracy relied on God’s guidance in his life. Though flying was his passion, he always made faith and family his priority. He loved being a father to his children, and his kind and gentle nature combined with his intelligence and accomplishments were an example to all who knew him.

 

Growing up in a musical family, he played the piano and bassoon in youth bands. He competed in swimming and diving, played tennis, and loved travel and the outdoors. He became a master tinkerer, restoring watches, player pianos, and cars as a youth. As an adult, he built houses in Georgia, Utah, and Colorado. He continued to enjoy hiking, biking, snow skiing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. His love for America grew during his military service, and he was grateful for all the opportunities God and Country afforded him. One could often find him studying the history of our great country and its many heroes. Tracy was a shining example of service, humility and strength, and he will be truly missed.

 

 He is survived by his wife Cathy Cheatham, his daughters Laura Regal, Elizabeth Foster and Allison Cheatham, his stepsons Karl Pia and Coleman Chase, 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, and siblings Scot Cheatham, David Cheatham, and Dana Scoby.

 

As a lifelong aviator with over 50 years as a pilot, Tracy wanted to leave a legacy of flying by supporting young aspiring pilots in achieving their educational goals. To fulfill that dream, he founded Life Wings 501c(3). In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to:

In February 1973, Ken was offered a position in the March pilot training class to begin his career in commercial aviation for Southern Airways, which became Republic and, later, Northwest Airlines. Twenty-nine years later, in 2002, Ken retired as captain on the 757 from Northwest.

Born to Harold and Madalyn Frisard in New Orleans, Louisiana (with the accent to prove it!), Ken attended Holy Cross High School from 1955-1961, then University of Southwestern Louisiana from 1961-1967. He was President of Phi Kappa Theta and an International Air Cadet in Denmark before graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After receiving his diploma, he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served with the 917th Special Operations Group out of Barksdale Air Force Base.

 

While deployed overseas, Ken obtained the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with several oak leaf clusters. During his USAF career, he recorded more than 2,000 hours of flight time in an A-37. Ken was honorably discharged in April of 1972 with the rank of Captain, having flown 233 combat missions and spent 13 months in Bien Hoa, Vietnam.

When he wasn’t behind the controls in a cockpit, Ken built houses, remodeled properties, and started a cabinet company. In January of 1997, he started A&F Trailer Manufacturing, Inc., which is still in business.

 

While in the Air Force, Ken married Simone Melda on January 25, 1969; their union lasted until she passed away in 2014. Ken was also preceded in death by his brothers Harold, Larry, and Rodney. Survivors include his brother, Martin; his children, Stephanie Carmon (Warren) of Marietta, GA and Kenneth Jr (Amanda) of Chapel Hill, NC, who made him Papa to grandchildren Kenneth Carmon; Samantha (Patrick) Keane and their children Maddox and Koda; Kenneth Frisard III, and Ava Frisard.

 

Ken’s true legacy is the father and friend he was to those around him. We will miss his quick wit, his love, and his friendship.

 

A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, August 9, from Noon till 4pm with food from Frankie’s on Roswell held at Warren and Stephanie’s home 1718 Kinsmon Cove, Marietta, 30062. The funeral id at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton August 11 at 10 AM.

Joseph Conway Dorsey, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and decorated Naval officer, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, at the age of 87.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, to Joseph W. Dorsey and Kathleen Conway, Joe graduated from Saint Joseph’s Preparatory High School in 1956 and earned an accounting degree from Villanova University in 1960. But life had bigger plans, trading spreadsheets for the skies, Joe joined the Navy and embarked on a storied aviation career that began with Officers Flight Training at Naval Air Station Pensacola, FL.

 

Joe’s military service took him to Naval Air Station Barbers Point in Oahu, HI, Naval Air Station Jacksonville and Roosevelt Rhodes Naval Station in Puerto Rico. In 1967, he joined Delta Airlines, where he built a distinguished career flying both domestically and internationally. Joe remained in the Naval Reserves, retiring as Captain in 1986. At age 60, after government mandates required pilot retirement, he reluctantly stepped down in 1998 from the left seat of the Boeing 767. For Joe, flying was never just a job, it was his calling, and he never tired of pushing the throttle. After retiring he spent 17 years volunteering with the Northside Hospital Auxiliary.

 

Joe is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joanne Shirreffs Dorsey; daughters Cecilia Dorsey Virgin (Brett Virgin), Denise Dorsey Wagner (Steve Wagner); and son Joseph Christopher Dorsey (Chris Blanchard). He was a proud grandfather to Elizabeth Easton Bell (Nick Bell), Dorsey Wagner Byrne (Kevin Byrne), Margaret Virgin, Alexandra Wagner, Joseph Virgin, and Michael Wagner, and great-grandfather to Easton and Redding Bell. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.

 

A man of boundless energy and warmth, Joe loved golf, tennis, and cheering on his grandchildren at all their events. His passion for life and loyalty to family were constant in all he did.

 

Celebrate Captain Dorsey on Monday, August 4 at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. It starts with a 10am visitation then a funeral mass at 11am. Reception to follow at Moylan Hall. 1406 Hearst Dr NE, Atlanta, GA 30319

PAA/DL Capt. Duane Leon Foster

Duane retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Brigadier General with more than 6,000 military flying hours and over 30 years of distinguished service in both active duty and reserve capacities………………….

Following his military retirement, Duane continued his passion for aviation, working as a commercial airline pilot, flight instructor, and aviation consultant for Pan Am, Delta Airlines, and Boeing, eventually retiring in 2008………………..

 

Duane began his commercial flying career 03-25-1968.  He is survived by his wife Mary Elizabeth, and by his sons and their families.  Services for Duane will be held Aug 8^th in Indiana, with visitation the day prior….please see obituary below for times and arrangements.

Duane Foster Obituary

Duane Leon Foster, 86, of Seymour, Indiana, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025 at Covered Bridge Health Campus in Seymour, Indiana.

 

Duane was born at home in Jennings County, Indiana, on July 15, 1939. He was the son of Lester Leon Foster and Lottie Irene (Hall) Foster, who both preceded him in death.

 

He graduated from Crothersville High School as class president and valedictorian, and proudly played on the Tigers' basketball and track teams. Duane went on to attend Butler University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in mathematics.

 

The day after graduating, Duane was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He trained as a pilot and flew C-130 Hercules aircraft, delivering cargo to more than 60 countries, including combat support missions during the Vietnam War. He later joined the Air Force's renowned "Hurricane Hunters," the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron, where he flew into 20 named hurricanes while stationed in Puerto Rico.

 

After active duty, Duane transitioned to Pan American Airlines as a commercial pilot, while continuing his service in the Air Force Reserve. Over the years, he flew several aircraft including the O-2 Skymaster, A-37 Dragonfly, F-4 Phantom, and A-10 Thunderbolt II. He held numerous leadership roles, including flight instructor, safety director, operations director, base commander, and commander of multiple tactical fighter wings. He also served as a senior reserve adviser to major Air Force commands and was a Brigadier General during the Gulf War, supporting Operation Desert Storm.

 

Duane retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Brigadier General with more than 6,000 military flying hours and over 30 years of distinguished service in both active duty and reserve capacities.

 

Following his military retirement, Duane continued his passion for aviation, working as a commercial airline pilot, flight instructor, and aviation consultant for Pan Am, Delta Airlines, and Boeing, eventually retiring in 2008. When combining his military and civilian aviation careers, Duane logged over 11,000 total flight hours.

 

In 2001, Duane co-founded Foster Brothers LLC, an excavating and crane company in Seymour, Indiana, with his sons Paul and David. He retired from the business in 2010.

 

Duane married Mary Elizabeth Beavers on August 16, 1959, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Medora, Indiana. They recently celebrated 66 years of devoted marriage.

 

A man of deep Christian faith, Duane was a faithful member of Peace Lutheran Church. Flying was his greatest passion after his faith and family. He also enjoyed playing guitar in Kyper Creek, a Southern gospel and classic country band. Known for his generous spirit and deep love for his family, Duane gave freely of his time and talents throughout his life.

 

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary Elizabeth (Beavers) Foster of Seymour, Indiana; three sons, Mark Leon (Wendy) Foster of Columbus, Indiana, Paul (Donna) Foster of Seymour, Indiana, and David (Angela) Foster of Seymour, Indiana; twelve grandchildren, Jacob (Jessica) Foster, Rachel (Kory) Kovert, Jordan (Leah) Foster, Andrea Foster, Jonathan (Brooke) Foster, Josiah (Madelyn) Foster, Dyana Foster, Yana Foster, Addison Foster, Colton Foster, Evelyn Foster, and Cooper Foster; and five great-grandchildren, Emma and Olivia Foster, Lydia Foster, Margaret Kovert, and Beckham Foster. Duane is also survived by his brother, Norman D. (Eileen) Foster of Seymour, Indiana.

 

In addition to his parents, Duane was preceded in death by a baby brother, Steven Foster.

 

Pastor Alarik Morris will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 8, 2025 at Peace Lutheran Church of Seymour, 330 Tipton Street, Seymour, Indiana 47274, with burial and military services to follow at Marion Baptist Church Cemetery, 7730 W. Co Rd 850 S., Paris Crossing, Indiana 47270.

 

Friends may visit on Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 110 E. Howard St., Crothersville, Indiana 47229 and after 10:00 AM on Friday at the church.
