July 8, 1936 ~ October 23, 2014
 
News has reached us with the passing of retired Delta pilot and Delta Golden Wings member Captain Dennis Reece Cable, age 78.   Captain Cable joined Delta Air Lines 11-16-1964 and retired at the mandatory age 60 in 1996, based 031/ATL.  Captain Cable was based Atlanta for most if not all of his commercial aviation career with Delta.

Obituary...................
Dennis Reece Cable was born July 8, 1936 in Proctor, NC and raised in Fontana Village, NC, where his father, Ed worked on constructing the Fontana Dam. His mother, Belle, was the Postmaster. Dennis graduated from Western Carolina University in 1959. He was a Lieutenant Commander in the US Navy, stationed in Barber's Point, Hawaii and flew transport planes for the VR21 squadron during the Vietnam War. He joined Delta Airlines as a pilot in 1964 and over a 33 year career, was captain of the Boeing 727, 757, 767 and MD 11 airplanes. Flying airplanes was his greatest passion, but he also loved gardening, birds and the stock market. Dennis is survived by his wife Judy, his son Kevin and his daughter Christina, as well as brothers, Clay and David Cable. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm on November 2, 2014 at Christ Our Hope Lutheran Church, 2165 Hwy 138 Riverdale, GA. 30296. Captain Dennis Cable passed away yesterday morning, October 16. Captain
Cable retired in 1996 from flying the MD-11.
