___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our Flown West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. Contributor contact info is generally removed before posting (unless requested otherwise).

It is with great sadness that I pass this along. Bob flew many, many trips with me and I was always pleased to see him. He was always professional, had a wry smile and sense of humor and made the entire crew happy to see him.
As soon as I get more info, I'll pass it along. There was also an article in the San Jose Mercury news about it. Bob was only 72.

I talked with Ann and she thought that it be a nice touch if those of us that can still get in our uniforms would wear them to the service. Bob's memorial service will be on Monday, May 18 at 7 pm at Bridges Community Church, 625 Magdalena Avenue, Los Altos, CA.

Here's Bob obituary:

SARATOGA -- A cyclist who was found unresponsive in the hills above Saratoga and later died has been identified as 72-year-old Cupertino resident Robert Brushwyler, authorities said. Brushwyler appears to have suffered a heart attack before he was found Monday afternoon on the side of Mt. Eden Road near Orchard Meadow Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. He was wearing cycling gear and a helmet, and responding officers found no evidence he had been hit by a vehicle or suffered any other external trauma.
A passer-by found Brushwyler collapsed in ivy and ice plant at the edge of a driveway that sits off the winding, hilly road popular with avid cyclists. He given CPR and rushed to Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner's Office released his identity Tuesday.

Hello all, I've never met any of you, but Bob Brushwyler was my grandfather. I'm the youngest child of his eldest daughter, Kim. I came across this page after looking up any info on his naval career recently and I was so moved by all of your stories and condolences. He truly was amazing, and we all miss him so much.
