DL Capt. Byron Hugh LeFevre

Notification with the passing of retired Delta pilot Captain Byron Hugh LeFevre, age 87.  Captain LeFevre joined Delta Air Lines 05-02-1956 and retired with Delta in August 1988, based Atlanta.  He is survived by his wife Vera, their children and grandchildren.

Byron Hugh LeFevre, of Dahlonega, passed away on June 19, 2017. Byron was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, on July 11, 1929. He was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and a member of Omicron Chapter of Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
After graduation, Byron was a first lieutenant in the United States Air Force serving in the 46th Fighter Interceptor Squadron during the Korean Conflict. Upon leaving the Air Force, he was a captain with Delta Air Lines, where he flew from 1956 through 1988. Byron was preceded in death by his parents, Emile C. and Jessie Craven LeFevre; and his sister, Emelia Johnson of Edmond, Oklahoma. Byron is survived by his wife of 64 years, Vera Lyons LeFevre of Dahlonega; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Susan LeFevre of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, David and Pat LeFevre of Douglasville; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Trent Conner of Dahlonega; granddaughter, Ashley (Allen) Ligon; granddaughter, Jennifer (Alan) Schuetze; grandsons, Scott LeFevre, Richard LeFevre, Michael Conner, Brian (Ally) LeFevre; granddaughter Jillian (Chris) Toombs; and sister, Marilyn Iott of Salem, South Carolina. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel.

Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to North Georgia Church, 74 Dill Lane, Dawsonville, GA 30534; Salvation Army, 603 Atlanta Highway, Gainesville, GA 3050, or to one’s charity of choice.
