___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our Flown West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. Contributor contact info is generally removed before posting (unless requested otherwise).

Obituary.................Robert G. Brown, 86
Cape Cod Times (Hyannis, MA) - Wednesday, July 10, 2019
EAST FALMOUTH, MASS. - Bob passed away, Monday July 8th of Pancreatic Cancer. He was preceded by his wife of 56 years, the love of his life, Ida M. Pingree; and leaves his son, Jeffrey Brown and his wife, Kristen Brown, of Franklin, MA and his two beloved grandchildren, Christopher and Michaela Brown. He also leaves his son Scott Brown of New York, NY and leaves a brother, Al Brown and sister-in-law, Linda of Surprise, AZ. If you ever met Bob, you loved him. His many friends, neighbors and co-workers will miss him dearly.

Bob was born and raised in Creston, Iowa on his parent's farm, but farming was not in his future. Bob followed his dream and enlisted in the Navy as a cadet, completed flight training and received his wings. After flight school he was based at Naval Air Station in Alameda, CA (VF-111) flew F9s off the U.S.S. Lexington and then became a flight instructor at North Island. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, Bob started his career in commercial aviation in 1957 and flew for 35 years, retiring as a 747 Captain with Northwest Airlines. Flying was his passion and he often said, "I never worked a day in my life".

In retirement, he spent time with his family, was a member of the John Wesley United Methodist Church and volunteer at the Falmouth Service Center and Meals on Wheels.

A Memorial Service will be held at the John Wesley United Methodist Church on Friday, July 12th at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the Falmouth Service Center or Meals on Wheels.
