___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our Flown West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. Hello dear friends and family~

This letter is to inform you that my Dad (Stu O'Brien) has passed away. He had a long battle with 5 different types of cancer in the last 12 years...but this last one( small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma) was extremely aggressive. He fought bravely and strongly. He chose to discontinue chemo just over a week ago because it wasn't helping. He then went on hospice....and was at home as he wanted. My brother Greg and I were holding his hands as he gently passed away last night at 9:37 pm. He will be missed every moment of our lives from here on out...and we look forward to be reunited with him in the kingdom of heaven. Unfortunately, we also had an additional horrible turn of events yesterday morning. My mother was sitting at her desk when she told me she didn't feel well.. and I had to call 911 due to her blood pressure being extremely high. They did an angiogram and discovered she has 4-5 blockages in her heart at 80-90%...so she is going to be having a Coronary artery bypass graft...either this morning or tomorrow. She has been my father's primary caregiver, till I arrived 3 weeks ago...so the stress has been a lot for her. I'm thankful they discovered it, and we will now take measures to preserve her life. Please come along side our family and pray for her. As you can see we will be unable to have a memorial service for my dad right away. Please forgive and understand it will need to be delayed until my mother has recovered and is able to be there also. We will contact you once a date has been set.
So please...have a toast today in my Dad's honor and know he "will be seeing you" as one of his buddies put it.

Much Love,

Michelle O'Brien-Gustin
