Larry Sutherland's oldest son "Xan" sends that the family has opened a memorial website so Larry's friends can share memories and pictures of Larry with the all of his friends and the family.
Larry's health was excellent, and his untimely death has stunned them all. Larry started a small airline of his own as most of the "kids"
are flying big airplanes somewhere in the world for a plethora of operators. Your memories of Larry will be most appreciated by his family.
I first met Larry in Salina, Kansas in 1969 checking out as first officer on the 727. He was an excellent pilot, and as good an instructor as I met while at Northwest. One of my best months as second officer on the three-holer had been with Dave Monroe (Dave let S/O's fly a lot!) and he and Larry were pretty good friends. The last time I saw Dave he was with Larry at a now closed, small airport (Southport?) south of the cities at a Blue Angles airshow. Two good friends, two great pilots, and two really good guys,"flown west".

Dear Phil,
I just received your email address from Dave Nelson in Seattle. As many of the friends from Northwest Airlines have heard, Larry passed away on April 25th during exercise in his office from a heart arrhythmia.
It was an unexpected passing and we are still reeling from the death. I know Larry had many friends from the USN and Northwest Airlines that would like some info.
