WA/DL Captain James A. ‘Jim Bishop

Word has been received of the passing of retired WA/DL pilot Captain James A. ‘Jim’ Bishop, age 79.  Jim hired on with Western 01-20-1964 and retired with Delta at the mandatory age 60 in 1993.  He was based SLC/LAX.  Jim’s aviation career also included time with the Air Force Reserve.  He was the chief check airman on the 737 at LAX.  He was a much loved friend to many and a highly respected pilot by all.  Jim is simply described as “one of the good guys” and he will be dearly missed.   Survived by his wife Karen Hodges Bishop, personal condolences may be sent to the family at

The family plans to hold a memorial service, date and time yet to be determined.
