Notification with the passing of retired
NEA/DL pilot Captain William John ‘Bill’ Donahue, age 86. Captain Donahue
joined Northeast Airlines 06-20-1956 and was based BOS. He was the recipient of
a civil aviation award and the Daedalian trophy in 1967. Captain Donahue, his crew and passengers, all survived a
freak accident on February 24, 1967 when their DC-6 en route from PHL to BOS
suffered an explosive decompression... a huge fuselage section came off and
struck one of the engines causing a propeller blade to break off ... a safe

Captain
Donahue was widowed in November 2007 with
the passing of his wife Dorothea ‘Dot’. The Donahues had most recently resided
in Jupiter FL and Dunbarton NH.

Word has been
received of the passing of Captain William "Bill" Donahue of Jupiter, Florida,
NEA/DL, retired. He passed away on April 25. He started his career with
Northeast Airlines in
June, 1955 and retired from Delta in June, 1985, after 30 years of service. Captain Donahue was an original member of the Yellowbird Chapter of the Delta Pioneers at it's founding in 1996. At the present, No arrangements, if any, have been announced.

that has, in the opinion of the Daedalian Awards Committee based on
recommendations from, the Airline Pilots Association, the Air Transport
Association, the Allied Pilots Association and the Southwest Pilots Association,
demonstrated the most outstanding ability, judgment and/or heroism above and
beyond normal operational requirements during the preceding calendar
year.
Only the names of the captains of the airline

that crew teamwork is a vital factor in exceptional performance.
