Word has reached us with the passing of
retired DL pilot Captain Robert E. Dunn, Jr., age 73. Captain Dunn joined
Delta Air Lines 01-09-1969 and retired in 2001, based 031/ATL. He is survived
by his wife Sandra.

Surrounded by his loving family, Robert E. Dunn, Jr., age 73, was welcomed into heaven by his Sweet Savior and also his son, Jim, on Tuesday, March 3, 2015.

Surrounded by his loving family, Robert E. Dunn, Jr., age 73, was welcomed into heaven by his Sweet Savior and also his son, Jim, on Tuesday, March 3, 2015.
Born October 2, 1941, in Gallatin, TN, to
the late Frances and Robert E. Dunn, Sr., he graduated from Gallatin High School
and Middle Tennessee State University. Bob served in the U.S. Navy in many
locations, including active duty in Vietnam, as a Navy pilot. He retired from
Delta Airlines as a Captain and Flight Instructor, and he was a lifelong United
Methodist who served as a Stephens Minister, Capital Campaign Chairman and
Church Council member at St. John's United Methodist Church in Aiken, SC. He was
also a former member of the Senior Men's Club of Aiken.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 52
years, Sandra, and two daughters, Jane Ellen (Frank) Hudson of LaGrange, GA, and
Susie (Gordon) Whitener of Knoxville, TN. Additionally, he is survived by a
sister, Diane (Tom) Miniard of Aiken, and grandchildren Frank Hudson, Jr. and
Robert Dunn Hudson of Abingdon, VA, Caroline (Curt) Duncan, Macy Whitener, James
Whitener, John Whitener, Maggie Whitener and Molly Whitener, all of Knoxville,
TN, and one great granddaughter, Lily Hudson of Abingdon. He is also survived by
numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends and his beloved little dog
Zach. He touched their lives in many special ways for which they loved and
adored him.
Memorial donations may be made to the
Building Fund at St. John's United Methodist Church, 104 Newberry St. NW, Aiken,
SC 29801.
There will be a Celebration of Life
memorial service at St. John's UMC officiated by the Rev. Dr. Tim McLendon and
the Rev. Dr. Ray Litts in Aiken on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at 1:00 p.m.,
followed by a reception hosted by his Sunday School class, Growing Christians.
Interment will be private, at a later date in LaGrange, GA, next to their son,
James Alexander Dunn.
