Notification with the passing of retired NC/RC/NWA pilot Captain Charles William Clawson, age 83, of Fort Wayne IN.

Charles William Clawson, 83, of Fort Wayne, died at 2:11 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2015 at the IU Health Hospital, Lafayette.
 
Charles was born on March 2, 1932 in Lafayette. He was the son of the late Charles Wilbur and Lois (Harper) Clawson. He was raised in Williamsport until the age of 7 when he moved to Rockville. He graduated from Rockville High School in 1950 and later from Purdue University in the School of Aeronautics. He had lived in Ann Arbor, MI for 30 years and Ft. Wayne for the past 27 years.
 
Charles married his childhood sweetheart, Betty A. Stewart on November 18, 1989 in Ft. Wayne. She survives.
 
Charles served in the US Army during the Korean War. He had worked as an air line pilot for 38 years for North Central Airlines, Republic Airlines and Northwest retiring in 1993. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Fort Wayne. He was an avid gun collector and had written four books about firearms and their history.
 
Surviving along with his wife, Betty, are a daughter, Christiana Clawson of Ft. Wayne; a son, Steven (wife-Megan) Clawson of New Mexico; a step daughter, Valerie Harris of Mulberry; three step sons, Michael (wife-Vickie) Runda and Domonic (wife-Jill) Harris, both of Ft. Wayne, and Martin (wife-Tina) Harris of Woodbury, CT; a sister, Phyllis Daily of Marion; an Aunt, Joan Morgan of Attica; two grandchildren, Steven and Jacqueline Brabbs; fourteen step grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren
 
Visitation will be held at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Tuesday, April 28, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Brian Morgan officiating. Burial with military honors will be held in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica.
