Biography: Dale Arthur
Roach
November 27, 1939 - December 4, 2015
November 27, 1939 - December 4, 2015
Dale A. Roach, 76, of Hot Springs Village
passed peacefully on Friday evening, December 4, 2015 at a local hospital. He
was born in Oklahoma City on Nov. 27, 1939 to Luther and Birdie Marie
Roach.
Dale is survived by his high school
sweetheart and wife of 53 years Nancy Roach; sons; Dale Jr. and his wife Barb,
Donald and his wife Kristy, and daughter; Dana Krawczuk and her husband Tim. He
is also survived by his 6 grandsons, Dillon, Dale III., Duke and Erik Roach,
Nicholas and Luke Krawczuk.
Dale grew up in Oklahoma City, graduated
from Classen High School and earned a B.A. from the University of Oklahoma in
1962, where he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air
Force. He was very proud of his service and flew thousands of hours throughout
the Pacific, including numerous missions in VietNam. He spent most of his time
in the Air Force based in Hawaii, and had many cherished memories of his time
spent there on the beautiful island and the wonderful people with whom he
served.
After his career in the Air Force, Dale
flew for Delta Air Lines where he retired after 30 years. While at Delta, he
lived in Crystal Lake, IL, Coral Springs, FL, and finally Lake Spivey, GA. He
was a respected pilot and a great guy to fly with, and he made many lasting
friendships during his career with Delta. Upon retirement, he moved to Lake
Balboa in Hot Springs Village where he enjoyed boating, poker, investing and
spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed presiding over Nana
and Grandads' summer camp where the grandchildren spent days swimming,
waterskiing, late nights’ playing cards and watching Western movies.
Dale loved Oklahoma Sooner football,
Corvettes, living on the water, and being surrounded by his loving family. Like
many men born in the first half of the last century, he valued traditional
American values and self-reliance. Anyone who knew him knew that his tough
exterior concealed a heart of gold. Funny, charming, and kind to a fault, Dale
left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He will be missed and remembered fondly
and lovingly by the many people who were lucky enough to call him a
friend.
