Capt. Perry T. Dove
April
8, 1931 ~ July ?, 2021
As
noted in the Oct.-Nov. issue of The Air Line Pilot magazine’s In Memoriam
column….the passing of retired Northwest pilot Captain PERRY T. DOVE. I believe this to be Captain Perry Taylor Dove,
born in Missouri April 8, 1931. Captain
Dove joined Pacific Airlines 03-02-1960 and would have made the various mergers
retiring with Northwest Airlines. His
most recent address is listed in whitepages as 59 Whitecap St., Pismo Beach, CA
93449.
I
was unable to find an obituary online…..if anyone has more information, we
would appreciate hearing from you.
Thank you,
~ Carol for the PCN
Carol, we were notified of Dove's passing by his niece. Our records show that he was originally hired as a pilot for Flying Tigers on 5/2/1955, probably going on to Pacific during one of the many furloughs during those years. His niece is sending us some Tiger memorabilia that the family apparently has. Contact me at president@flyingtigerline.org and I'll hook the two of you up if I can.
ReplyDeleteHe was my mothers uncle. He was from Hannibal Mo, a pilot in the service and later owned a private plane and lived in a suburb in CA known as an airplane community. He had 4 sisters one being my grandmother. Marjorie (Dove) Pepper.
ReplyDeleteP.T. Dove Always with a squinty smile, he would walk up and share time. I met Perry after he and wife Fran retired to their large home on the shores of Trinity Lake. The home was one of a dozen or so with a hangar underneath served by the taxiway of the Strip (O86). Always helpful with the airport and eager to have lunch with friends. Perry and Fran (spoke with nice TX accent) did not have children and while short in stature Perry loved all things "big". His Navion was claimed to have a mother that was a tank, his CJ Jeep a V8, his Ford Diesel Crew Cab Pickup, his Chevy SSR Pickup and his 50's Olds Hotrod with the 455 olds.
ReplyDeleteI'll always remember Perry and his friendly ways.
I worked for Trinity County for many years which duties included Airport (5 of them) management and operations.

Carol, I just found your request recently,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Donald D. Dove. I am Perry T. Dove’s 1st nephew. Perry’s moniker on his Navion (that he privately flew following commercial aviation retirement) was “PT Dove Gunslinger”. He was very close to exactly 20 years older than me. My father was Perry’s oldest brother. My father was the oldest of 9 children and Perry was almost the youngest of 9 siblings growing up in Missouri. I grew up hunting and fishing with Perry in central and northern California my whole life and spent nearly every holiday with him and his wife Fran, whom I still am in constant contact with monthly!
Perry bought me my first flying lesson for my 16th birthday out of SMF in Sacramento, California in the 1960’s, which lead me to obtaining my own private license many years later.
He was also instrumental in me enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1969, as he was an Air Force Veteran himself.
I have numerous memories of growing up, and in later years, spending time with him and his wife Fran (of 50+ years).
If you have any further questions, I would be happy to respond to your enquiries.
