USAF veteran, DL Capt. Ronald Edward Jones

AUGUST 2, 1939 – DECEMBER 6, 2021

 


Notification with the passing of retired Delta pilot Captain Ronald Edward Jones, age 82.  Captain Jones joined Delta Air Lines 01-03-1967 and was based ATL/030.  He is survived by his wife Frances, and his children and grandchildren.

Obituary :  Ronald Edward Jones

Ronald "Ron" E. Jones, 82, of Hoover, Alabama passed away Monday, December 6, 2021. He was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, his Savior. He was a loving husband, father, and friend. His giving spirit and compassion for others will surely be missed.

 

Ron grew up in Sulligent, Alabama. After graduation from Sulligent High School, he earned his undergraduate degree at the U.S. Air Force Academy. His professional career included 30 years as a pilot with Delta Airlines.

 

Ron was a member of Green Valley Baptist Church in Hoover. He was the varsity football team's kicking coach at Berry High School for many years, and helped coach girls' basketball there.

 

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Edward Jones and Amanda Glenn Tollison Jones, and his brother-in-law, Bob Finley. Survivors include Ron's wife, Frances; children, Eddie (Ginger) and Betsy (Donny); grandchildren, Josh, Abby, Camryn, Connie (Drew), Chris (Ashlyn), Ashley, and Angela; sisters, Frances (Ernie), Carol (Don), and Jane; sister-in-law, Diane; brother-in-law, Jimmy (Laurie); along with many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

 

The family will greet friends on Monday, December 13, 2021 from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124. Immediately following the visitation, A Service of Remembrance for Ron will begin at 1 p.m. at the funeral home's chapel. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham.
