___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our Flown West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. Contributor contact info is generally removed before posting (unless requested otherwise).

About the Author

James W. Woeber was born on September 30, 1926, in Denver, Colorado. He grew up in Bakersfield, California, where he attended St. Francis Elementary School. In 1940, he entered the Catholic seminary in Los Angeles. In 1948, he joined the US Air Force and served four years as a flight instructor in the AT6 primary trainer. While based at Connally Air Force Base in Waco, Texas, he met and married Lucy Ann Demmer and had five children. In 1953, he was hired as a pilot by Delta Air Lines. For the next thirty-three years, he flew every airplane Delta had, starting with the venerable DC3 and finally retiring after his last flight to Hawaii on the Lockheed TriStar wide-body jet airliner. His passionate search for alternative answers to health problems began in the seventies, when it became known that heart disease was grounding more pilots than all other causes together. The wise doctor on staff at their disability insurance company started sending the pilots to the Pritikin Longevity Center in California, where they were cured by their diet and exercise program. Since retirement, he has accumulated a truly astounding collection of alternative ways to cure many of people’s most frightful health problems.
