Obituary : Robert Mitchell Bryant, Sr. (Bob) of
Crockett passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, April 28th, 2022 at age
83. Robert was born October 31, 1938 in Maverick. He was raised by hardworking
migrant sharecroppers which meant he moved around frequently. He attended
nearly a dozen different schools and graduated at age 17 from Jefferson Davis
High School in Houston. He met the love of his life, Gracie and they married in
1956. They were blessed with three children, Cindy Ann, Robert Jr. and Susan
Kay. At age 18, Robert began his career with Delta Airlines. While working
ground operations and handing luggage for Delta, he attended the University of
Houston. Bob worked several extra jobs while working to obtain his pilot
licenses, and started flying for Delta at the age of 29. Bob passed down his
love of flying to his family and made many lifelong friends during his career
with Delta. He retired as Captain after 40 years at Delta Airlines. Robert’s
parents instilled their love for God in him and his five brothers which has
been passed on to the next generation and beyond. Bob will be remembered by the
family as an avid daily bible reader and will cherish his worn out bible. He
was a faithful member of the Church in MacGregor Park, Aldine, Spring, The
Woodlands area and Grace Street. He was always very supportive to missionaries,
outreach programs and foreign fields. Bob enjoyed traveling with family and
friends either camping, cruising or flying. In that order! He loved to ski,
golf, play dominoes and cards. He will be remembered by family as a crossword
puzzle expert. Bob and Gracie spent many wonderful vacations traveling the
world. In 1976, Bob and Gracie bought land in Houston County. He went from
Pilot to Cowboy. Once again, he was hard at work with his wife and children
along beside him. They built their dream home for his retirement in 2000.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years,
Gracie Berry Bryant of Crockett; children, Cynthia (Cindy) Shaw and husband,
Gordon of Crockett; Robert Mitchell Bryant Jr. of Spring, Susan Woodward and
