May 20, 1942 - June 3, 2022

 


Notice of passing….retired Delta pilot Captain Francis Marion Drake, age 80.  Captain Drake joined Delta Air Lines 02-26-1973 and was based 030/SLC.  He is survived by his wife Sandee, and by his children and grandchildren.

Obituary : Francis "Frank" M. Drake

Francis “Frank” Drake, age 80; born in Lyons, Kansas on May 20, 1942, went home to the Lord on June 3, 2022. Beloved husband  of Sandee; loving father of Jason (Laura) and Richard Drake; adoring grandfather of Maren, Emma and Evan; dearest brother of Sherryn (Ray) Eberly, the late Dona Gearhart and the late Francie Ann Drake.

 

Frank received a B.S. degree in civil engineering from the University of Kansas in 1965. He later enlisted in the United States Air Force and became aircraft commander of the C130. While serving, Frank was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (our nation's highest award for extraordinary aerial achievement.)  After his honorable discharge, Frank served as a Delta Airlines pilot for 30 years and retired as a captain of the 767 aircraft.  Member of the Park Ridge Presbyterian Church.
