___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our Flown West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. Contributor contact info is generally removed before posting (unless requested otherwise).

JIMMY HAYNES OBITUARY

Jimmy Ray Haynes~ A Life Well Lived

Jimmy Ray Haynes, 82, passed away on Sep 13, surrounded by his loving family.

Jimmy was born December 12,1939, to Clarence and Jessamine Haynes in Jacksonville, Arkansas. He had 4 brothers and one sister. He graduated from Fair Park High School in 1957, in Shreveport, LA.

Jimmy and Charline Bowlin were married on April 18, 1957, and they spent 65 wonderful years together, traveling the world, raising a family, and serving the Lord.

Following his high school graduation, Jimmy supported his family by throwing a paper route, but his childhood dream was to become a pilot. He started flying lessons at age 17, training in a Piper Cub.

While he was busy building his flying career (to include crop dusting in a Stearman biplane for Campbell Air Service, and flying helicopters and float planes off the Gulf Coast for Chevron Oil) Charline was busy with their children... Jimmy, Teri, and Jeff.

In 1966, Jim took a long shot and applied to Delta Airlines. While he was flying offshore, Charline got the offer phone call, and was thrilled to relay the news to Jimmy that he was hired! This began the adventure of a lifetime of travel for the family. Jim made Captain in 1976 and flew another 20 years, retiring in 1997.

Flying, while exciting and rewarding, was not the most important thing to Jim. He was a committed Christian who talked the talk and walked the walk. He and Charline went on many mission trips around the world, he taught Sunday school, served as a deacon, and was always available for volunteer work on church events, as well as disaster relief.

Jimmy is survived by his wife Charline, children Teri and Scott Reynolds and Jeff and Lori Haynes. Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren and families include: Meagan, Craig, Luke and Leila Wooten; Wes Reynolds; Lexi, Collin and Lorelai Higgins. Kathryn, Luis and Lori MTZ Arredondo; Jacob, Heidy, Emma, and Charline Rose Haynes; Bradley Haynes. Jimmy is preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Ray Haynes, Jr., his parents, and his 5 siblings, along with many cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Visitation will be on Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 12:15PM to 1:00PM at Harrell Funeral Home, 100 Heritage Drive, Austin, TX. Funeral services will be 1:00PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Phillips Cemetery.
