___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our Flown West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. Contributor contact info is generally removed before posting (unless requested otherwise).

Obituary :    Harold "Harry" L. Furrevig died unexpectedly on August 21, 2022 while vacationing with his wife, children and grandchildren near Bar Harbor, Maine. He was born on March 12, 1950 in Jersey City, NJ to Norman Furrevig and Margaret Greenaway Furrevig. He was residing in Tellico Village and Delray Beach, Florida.

Harry graduated from the Naval Academy in 1971 and gave 20 years of service to our country. He completed his flight training in Pensacola and tours of duty in Newport, Kauai, Coronado, the USS Enterprise, Pensacola, D.C., Rota, Spain and back to Kauai where he retired. He flew T-28, H-3 and C-12 aircraft as well as being an Administrative Officer. After he retired from the Navy in 1991, Harry went to work as a pilot for American and Northwest which later merged with Delta Airlines. He definitely had "the need for speed".

Harry's biggest joy was making sure that those around him were happy and his sense of humor was contagious. He loved boating, traveling, singing karaoke, golfing, hiking in the mountains, collecting shells on the beach and listening to live music. His number one priority was family. He was married for 44 years to his beloved wife, Carolyn Hoffman, who survives him along with their children and grandchildren. Harry was so proud of his son, Kristofer Furrevig and his wife Shayna, his daughter Alison and her husband Michael Brennan, and their children, Ocean and Isla and Landon and Blakely, respectively. He also leaves behind his siblings, Joyce Furrevig Kuthe, Norman Furrevig and Mark Furrevig as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a special man who touched the lives of all he knew.

A service of remembrance will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 24th at:

Sabal Pines Club House, 2500 SW 22nd Avenue, Delray Beach, FL 33445
