___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our Flown West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. Contributor contact info is generally removed before posting (unless requested otherwise).

Obituary : Keith L. Sterling, age 81 of Fort Myers, FL (formerly of Apple Valley, MN), passed away on Oct. 5, 2022. Survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Ginny; and son, Mike (Laura).

Keith was a very loving, devoted husband and a proud father. A lover of all things outdoors which fueled his desire to travel and see more. In college he earned an Electrical Engineering degree and joined the ROTC. After joining the Air Force, stationed in Selma, AL, he ascended to the rank of Captain as a Flight Instructor for Fighter Pilots in the mid-60s. His love of service to our country made him deeply patriotic. He was active in many volunteer groups and took immense pride in supplying and properly retiring American Flags with the American Legion in Cypress Woods, Florida. Keith was extremely competitive; from betting biggest and most fish caught for the day, driving racecars in Circle track and Drag racing, Hunting, Golf, Billiards, or any fun activity. In 1969 he began his Career at Northwest Airlines; he loved that job so much he would say he felt like he was stealing his paycheck. NWA allowed him to travel the world and see the things he always dreamed of seeing. In Retirement, Ginny and Keith traveled SE Asia and Europe by air and North America in their RV. They both loved time together and with friends. Keith will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

Funeral at 11am on Mon., Oct. 17, 2022, at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 14850 Garrett Ave., Apple Valley, with visitation one hour prior. Interment at Lebanon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Toy’s for Tot’s or any charity that helps families in need.
