Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our Flown West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity.  Man, 72, dies after falling from boat

The body of a 72-year-old Wayne County man was recovered from the Erie Canal in Macedon over the weekend after it is believed that he fell from his boat into the water, according to Macedon police.

Macedon Police Department on Saturday learned that Robin Mangold, 72, left his Quaker Road home in Macedon that morning to do some work on his boat which was docked on the canal behind his house.

The man’s fiancée grew concerned when he did not return home for lunch and called 911.

Officers searched for Mangold using a bloodhound and a drone, both from the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office. Mangold's body was recovered from the canal by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Underwater Recovery Unit around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, according to Macedon police.

Officers continue to investigate. They have not yet determined Mangold's cause of death, said Macedon Police Chief John Colella. An autopsy will be performed this week, he said.
