December 2021
We have belated
and very sad news to share…..from friends and colleagues we are just now hearing
that Captain Carl Bean passed October 7, 2020.
Carl joined Northeast Airlines 01-17-1966 and retired with Delta Air
Lines, based Atlanta. “Carl served many
years as a Captain for Delta flying international and domestic flights. He also
was a flight instructor on the 767/757 program.” We have also just learned that Carl’s wife
Karen passed in December 2021 due to heart failure. Karen began her flying career with Northeast
Airlines, Flight Attendant class 11/08/1968.
We also learned that Karen was not only preceded in death by her husband
Carl but also by their daughter Kimberly (1980-2021). We were unable to find online obituaries for
Karen and Kimberly but Carl’s information is noted below.
If anyone has more
information to share, we would appreciate hearing from you as all updates
and/or corrections are always welcome.
Thank you,
~ Carol for the

Carl was my father. He left four of us when we were very young. All under the age of 7. He never looked back at us and carried on his life with Karen and Kimberly. He abandoned us. I don’t know why. But he is not the great man you all thought he was. He had 6 siblings that he also never stayed in touch with. Very sad. I loved him because he was my father and I wanted a relationship with him but he was never a dad to us. He left me when I was 6 and I only heard from him very few times in my life.
