Military veteran, NWA Capt. Lowell Eugene Kegley

August 28, 1935 - August 29, 2023

 


From the Northwest Airlines pilot group/RNPA, we learn of the passing of retired Northwest pilot Captain Lowell Kegley, age 88.  Lowell joined Northwest Airlines 06-22-1964.  He is survived by his wife Joi, and by his sons and their families.  Obituary information is available online at https://www.whitefuneralhomes.com/obituary/lowell-kegley

LOWELL'S OBITUARY

Kegley, Lowell E. Age 88, of Apple Valley, passed away August 29, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.   Survived by wife of 67 years, Joi; sons Glen (Ginny), Gary (Becky), Gregg (Renee) and Grant (Kim); grandchildren Laura (Jon) Rauenhorst, Bryan Kegley, Bridget Kegley, Cooper Kegley, Mackenzie (Mark) Madsen, Luke (Robyn) Kegley, Mason (Selin) Kegley, Rachel (Collin) Bruns and 9 great-grandchildren. Lowell was a loving husband, wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He traveled thousands of miles between baseball games, softball games, graduations, fishing trips, and everything else his family was doing.  There was no event unimportant to him.  He will be missed greatly.

Lowell flew as Captain for most of his 31 years at Northwest Airlines, retiring in 1995.  He was a longtime check airman, simulator instructor and line pilot.  He served three years in the United States Marine Corps earning the rank of Corporal. He was an aircraft engine mechanic primarily on F-9F Panthers.  While in service, Lowell was awarded the National Defense Service, Korean Service and United Naons Service Medals.  He was also an active member of Faith Covenant Church of Burnsville.  He served on multiple committees over several decades. 

Funeral services to be held September 28th at Faith Covenant Church of Burnsville at 10:30 am, visitation one hour prior to service.  Memorials in lieu of flowers to M.O.M.S. or Wounded Warrior Project.  M.O.M.S. is a faith-based mentoring program designed to provide healthy, stable homes for single mothers and their children. Wounded Warrior Project provides support for veterans requiring mental and physical assistance.
