column, the September 2023 passing of Northwest pilot Capt. Jerry R. Anglea. Jerry Ronald Anglea began his flying
career with Southern Airways 03-14-1966 and made the mergers with Republic and
Northwest Airlines.

J. R. was born November 8, 1963 in Mobile, Alabama and passed away on September 8, 2022 in Odenville, Alabama. His father, Jerry born June 1, 1944 in Nashville, Tennessee and passed on September 9, 2023 in Fort Walton Beach.
Jerry was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. He joined the Air Force in Mobile, Alabama, and then became a Commercial Airline Pilot based in New Orleans and then on to Fort Walton Beach with Southern Airlines and retired with Northwest Airlines. He also was a Real Estate Broker, home builder and an avid golfer.
J.R. went to school in Fort Walton Beach, graduated from Choctawhatchee High School in 1981. He then studied at Marion Military Institute, in Marion Alabama for two years. He graduated from the University of West Florida in Pensacola. Upon graduation, he went to flight training at an aviation school in Panama City, Florida.
J.R. too, was an avid golfer in school and played a lot of golf with his father.
J.R. married Leah Miller of Rome, Georgia. They had a wonderful marriage until Leah passed away in 2016. They rest at West Union Baptist Church, 1560 Everett Springs Road, Calhoun, Georgia 30701, where Leah grew up.
Jerry and J. R. are both survived by Linda Anglea of Fort Walton Beach./Destin and The Villages of Florida, along with many family and friends.
