___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our Flown West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. Contributor contact info is generally removed before posting (unless requested otherwise).

Larry Rodammer Obituary

Larry Lee Rodammer, 81, of Pompano Beach, Florida passed away May 8, 2024, unexpectedly by natural causes, surrounded by his loving family.

Larry was born Dec. 10, 1942 in Saginaw, MI to parents Lillie & Ed Rodammer and grew up in Frankenmuth with his 3 siblings and many relatives and friends.

He graduated from Western Michigan University and enlisted in the U.S. Navy as an officer & became a pilot. He was stationed in Puerto Rico where he met his wife of 54 years, Maria. He then continued his love for flying as a captain with Delta Airlines for 33 years and settled in Pompano Beach, FL.

Larry loved and lived for his family. He was a great father, coach, teacher, and friend. A hard worker, dedicated to his family & friends, with a servant heart for others. He loved to truly connect with all he crossed paths with. He never met a stranger! He was never too busy for a good conversation. He just loved helping others and getting to know people. His advice and guidance will be missed.

He loved spending time watching his grandchildren play sports and music - a PROUD Grandpa. He enjoyed making new memories and experiencing new things while reminiscing about the past with family and friends. Larry enjoyed walking, jogging, sports, & diving for lobsters in the Keys with his brothers and friends, and anything outdoors.

Larry is preceded in death by his loving parents, Ed & Lillie. He is survived by his wife Maria, daughter Michelle & son-in-law Tim Puterbaugh, son Brandon Rodammer, his grandchildren: Braxton & Brianna Rodammer and Ethan Puterbaugh; his siblings: Gene (& Dot) Rodammer, Wayne Rodammer and Pauline (& Charlie) Nuechterlin. He is also survived by countless friends, relatives, and loving nieces and nephews that have been part of his/our fond memories.

His ashes will be laid to rest at the South Florida National Cemetery for military veterans with a private military burial ceremony, in accordance with his wishes. (There will not be a funeral or celebration of life per his request).

Larry will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love, kindness, fun and dedication to family and friends will continue to live on in our hearts.
