Bill Stoessel Obituary
William F. Stoessel transitioned into eternal life
on May 3rd, 2024. Born on Long Island, New York, on January 4, 1962, he was the
cherished eldest sibling among five born to William and Valerie Vacca Stoessel.
Bill's journey led him to Embry Riddle
Aeronautical University in Florida, where he honed his passion for aviation. He
later distinguished himself in the United States Air Force, serving with the
701st and 707th AirLift Squadrons [Once a Turtle, Always a Turtle TFL]
ultimately achieving the rank of LT Colonel. Bill's remarkable military career
spanned five wars, including the Persian Gulf War/Desert Storm, reflecting his
unwavering commitment to duty and honor. During his tenure in the Air Force
Reserves, Bill joined Delta Airlines. He recently celebrated 25 years at Delta,
achieving his Captain status, 44 total years flying. Bill was also a Homeland
Security Flight Deck Officer.
More than a decorated aviator, Bill was a force of
nature, characterized by his magnetic personality and his genuine warmth
towards everyone he encountered. He attended St Paul Methodist Church in Ninety
Six, SC and has been lifted high by their love and continuing prayers.
His love for flying was matched only by his
affection for his Charleston, SC Air Force Base family, his fellow beekeepers,
and his fellow enthusiasts in the GA Triumph Association. Bill found joy in the
simple pleasures of life, whether it was fishing, mastering magic tricks,
navigating the waters on his boat and jet ski, or indulging in "Cabana
Time" with friends; savoring Cuban cigars, brewing homemade beer and
engaging in spirited poker games with his beloved Plantation and Grand Harbor
family.
Bill leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished
memories, embraced by his mother, Valerie Stoessel; four devoted siblings:
Gregory Stoessel (Lori), Scott Stoessel (Linda), Danielle Thompson (Warren),
and Jaime Hiranandani (Sanj). He also leaves behind 5 loving nieces - Ashley,
Jenna, Paige, Alexa, and Brooke - along with his cherished godchild, Skylar,
and his ever-present life partner, Glenda, who stood faithfully by his side
through every adventure and triumph.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Bill's
remarkable life on 1pm on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Harley Funeral Home
Chapel. A "Celebration of Life" reception will follow at Grand Harbor
Clubhouse where stories of Bill's extraordinary life will be shared amidst
laughter and tears.
The family kindly requests donations to The
American Kidney Foundation, or alternatively, flowers will be warmly welcomed
in honor of Bill's vibrant spirit. Bill's final resting place will be in
Arlington Cemetery.
".wishing you clear skies and a strong tail
wind Flyboy.."
