DAL Capt. David M. Hedges
October 17, 1943 ~ July 23, 2024
David
Hedges, 80, of Peachtree City, Georgia, passed away on July 23, 2024. He was
born on October 17, 1943, in San Mateo, California, to the late Robert and
Mildred Hedges.
David
was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved spending time with his
family and playing golf with his friends. For many years, he was a little
league coach for both baseball and football, sharing his love of sports with
young athletes. Dave also had a passion for music and was often found singing
Elvis songs at various social gatherings.
He
graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, and served his country
with honor for six years in the Navy, where he flew F-8s in Vietnam. He was a
student at the Naval Fighter Weapons School which later became Top Gun. Dave
was also a proud member of the Red River Valley Fighter Pilot Association.
After his military service, David had a distinguished 31-year career with Delta
Airlines as a Captain and Line Check Airman, flying aircraft including the
Convair 880, 727, DC-8, 757, 767, 767 ER, and L-1011.
David
is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mildred, and his brothers, Jim
and Rich. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Arnette; his son, Troy
(Kimberly); his daughter, Ashley (Teek); his three cherished grandchildren,
Riley, Jake, and Georgia; and his brother, Bob (Roxanne).
The funeral will be at Mowell Funeral Home in Fayetteville, GA at
2 pm on August 24th, 2024. Visitation will be from 1-2. www.mowells.com
