We honor the life of retired Delta Air Lines pilot Captain Pete Thelen, who passed on October 9th at the age of 82.  Captain Thelen joined Delta Air Lines 10-28-1963.  He is survived by his wife Mary Lou, and by his children and their families.

Peter William Thelen, 82, of Lady Lake, FL, passed away on October 9, 2024. Peter was born on December 12, 1941 in Ann Arbor, MI to his loving parents; William Peter and Theodora (Bailey) Thelen.

 

Peter became a resident of Florida in 1970 and was a member of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Ft. Lauderdale. Peter began learning to fly at the age of 16 and it quickly became a passion of his. Peter worked for over 33 years as a pilot and flight instructor for Delta Airlines. After his retirement in 1997, he trained the Atlanta, GA Police Department and Fire Department to fly helicopters through his company, Air Pro.

 

Peter will be missed dearly and remembered fondly as a friend, husband, father, pilot and witness for the Lord.

Peter is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Mary Lou Thelen, his children: Lucy Jean, Garon, Trevor and Corey, seven precious grandchildren, and a brother, Jim.

Peter is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jeanie.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Pete's loving memory to Cornerstone Hospice in Lady Lake, FL 32159.
