___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our Flown West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. Contributor contact info is generally removed before posting (unless requested otherwise).

Roger DuClos Obituary

Roger Alan DuClos, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on March 25, 2025, leaving behind a lifetime of adventure, love, and unwavering dedication to family. Born in Palos Heights, IL in 1945, Roger was an athlete at heart, excelling in both baseball and football during his high school years. His talent on the field earned him a college football scholarship. He graduated from the University of Arizona, and then answered the call to serve, becoming an Air Force instructor pilot on the T-38. His love for the skies carried him into a distinguished career as a captain with Delta Airlines, where he spent over 30 years doing what he loved-flying. He loved talking about aviation and would happily spend hours and hours talking to anyone that would listen! A true adventurer, Roger found joy on both land and water. He was a passionate water skier, spending his summers on Lauderdale Lakes, where he skied more than a hundred times each season, well into his 70's. He loved being part of the water ski team as a skier in the 1960's and supporting his daughters as they followed in his footsteps. When not on the lake, he could be found exploring the rugged beauty of Arizona's mountains, embracing the solitude and beauty of the trails he loved so much. Despite his many adventures, Roger's greatest joy was his family. He shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife of 55 years, Linda, and took immense pride in his daughters, Jennifer Strombom (Brian) and Wendy Davids (Mark). He absolutely loved his role as Grandpa to Madelyn and Adam, always encouraging them to explore the world with curiosity and courage. He is also survived by his loving sister, Nancy Widmann (Ed), and was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Louise, and brothers, King and Bruce. Roger's favorite phrase was, "Not all those who wander are lost." Whether soaring through the sky, cutting across the water, or trekking through the mountains, he embodied the spirit of a true explorer-never lost, always discovering. His legacy of adventure, love, and integrity will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life open house will be held on May 25, 2025 from 11am-2pm Evergreen Country Club N6246 Hwy 12/67 Elkhorn, WI 53121 In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Southern Wakes United Water Ski Team in Roger's honor (this is the new name of the Lauderdale Aqua Skiers Water Ski Team that has been part of the DuClos family for many decades) https://www.southernwakesunited.com/donate
