___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our PCN Flight West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. Contributor contact info is generally removed before posting (unless requested otherwise).

BOEHM, John

John Edward Boehm died on Oct. 18, 2025 in Cedar Hill, Texas. Known as Jack, he was born Nov. 6, 1936 in Brooklyn, New York to John Coffey Boehm and Helen Green Boehm.

Jack served in ROTC at Manhattan College, graduating in 1958 from the School of Civil Engineering. He married Virginia Meyer the same year. After receiving a masters degree in civil engineering from UC Berkeley in 1959, he became a US Air Force pilot. Following a decade of military service around the world, Jack joined Delta Airlines and flew for 27 years as a commercial pilot until he retired to Florida. In the Air Force, Jack served with distinction across myriad combat missions in Vietnam, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross among other honors, and was accepted into the Air Force Test Pilot School.

He was a career aviator but also continued his education, earning a law degree from Southern Methodist University, which he put to use in service of the Airline Pilots Association and its members.

Jack was an avid traveler, voracious reader, history lover and a dog person, though his secret soft spot for cats and other creatures was occasionally revealed.

A committed curmudgeon, he loved his children ferociously and taught them to value education, service and family, as well as a healthy skepticism towards institutions.

Jack is survived by his brother, William Boehm, and his children: Chris Boehm, Laura Boehm, Mark Boehm, Marianne Eckley and Charlie Boehm; and his grandchildren: John Michael Eckley, Adrianna Bobo, Katerina Heffern, Ian Wode, Jacqueline Wode, Sean Boehm, AJ Boehm and Reeves Boehm; and great-grandchildren: Taylor, Remington and Everleigh Bobo, and Lucas and Emma Heffern.

He will be laid to rest at his family's plot in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Jack's life will be celebrated at a memorial mass at 11 am on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1111 W. Danieldale Road, Duncanville, TX.
