Military veteran, DL Capt. Billy Lindsay

January 4, 1939 – January 8, 2026

 


Billy Lanford Lindsay joined Delta Air Lines 06-19-1967.  He is survived by his sons and their families.  Billy had most recently resided in South Carolina :   PO Box 1057, Chapin, SC 29036.

IN THE CARE OF Caughman-Harman Funeral Home - Chapin Chapel

Billy L. Lindsay of Chapin, SC passed away on January 8, 2026. Billy was born on January 4, 1939, in Shelby, NC to Hayes and Effie Lindsay.

Billy was a Captain Pilot with the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. After leaving the USMC, he became a commercial pilot as a Captain for Delta Airlines where he continued to work until retirement. He was an active member of the VFW and American Legion of Chapin.

 

He is survived by his son, Brian Scott Lindsay (Lynn) and Matthew Hayes Lindsay; and grandson, Tanner Colton Lindsay.

 

Billy was predeceased by wife *Alice Faye, daughter Lisa Michelle Lindsay and son David Alan Lindsay.

 

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Caughman Harman Funeral Home-Chapin, 123 Columbia Ave., Chapin, SC 29036. Burial will be held at the Florida National Cemetery.

 

*LINDSAY, ALICE F, also known as ALICE FAYE LINDSAY and ALICE FAYE LIGHTBOURN, was born 25 April 1941 in MIAMI DADE, Florida, daughter of FRANK S LIGHTBOURN (father) and DOROTHY V TUCKER, and died 3 November 2001.
