___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our PCN Flight West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. Contributor contact info is generally removed before posting (unless requested otherwise).

Stuart Truax Duerson

Oconomowoc Enterprise (WI) - Thursday, March 5, 2026

Stuart Truax Duerson, Oconomowoc Senior High School Class of 1969, passed away in Greenville, South Carolina, in *early March 2026 at the age of 74. He is survived by a son, daughter, grandchild, and three brothers.
He earned a chemistry degree from the United States Air Force Academy and served as a USAF pilot flying the C-9 Nightingale Ambulance airplane in the United States and Europe. He continued an aviation career with Delta Airlines, retiring as a 767 Captain.
He is known for his numerous interests, mischievous smile, jokes, pranks and puns. Unhappy with his father's smoking habit, he placed a prank "load" in one of his father's cigarettes. While at a meeting with other councilors that included some from Stu's High School, the pack of cigarettes was shared. Suddenly there was a "pop." The unfortunate smoker held a partial cigarette in his mouth with the tip blown up. There was a moment of silence, then another voice simply said, "Your Son?" Yep. That is Stu.
He was an avid movie watcher and collector with thousands of movies in his collection. He was quick with a quote from a movie to make a point or bring smile.
Celebration of Life and burial will be on the Pacific Coast later this year. His request to his children was, "Don't do it like the Big Lebowski."
