David or "Capt'n Dave" as he was known
by his friends and family, joined Delta Airlines on 9/30/1963 and was based in
Atlanta his entire career with the exception of a short time in Los Angeles
where he flew the MD-11.
He is survived by his longtime partner Susanne and
his daughter Elizabeth and her family.
Preceding him in death was his son Aaron, a Captain with ASA and later a
pilot with American Airlines.
He most recently resided in Sarasota, FL. His final earthly resting place will be in
the Sarasota National Cemetery.
My twin sister and I spent many summers at our Aunt Donna’s home on LBK in the early 90s, and we were blessed to have Captain David as our next door neighbor. He was always so funny and kind to us. Such a great storyteller. We loved hearing about his cat, Barney, who had its own condo. We were so excited to see David again this past January at our Aunt’s birthday party, and we couldn’t get over how he still was the coolest person in the room! Same great storyteller. Same wit. Same impeccable style. So funny. But mostly, David was just so kind. We will miss him very, very much!!! What a blessing it was to have known him.

David was my best male friend for over 40yrs. David has always been there for me and especially after the loss of my husband. Thru good times and bad times we always persevered because we had each others' backs. Losing David is a major void in my life and one that no one can fill. You never replace a friend like he has been to me. You truly will be missed by many, David!
