Richard Alan Mau joined National/Pan Am 06-22-1970 and retired with Delta Air Lines.

 

Interment will be August 13, 2026 at 10:30am at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Florida next to his wife Jacqueline…..visitation the evening prior.  Please see obituary below.

Richard Mau Obituary

Passed away August 5, 2026 in Melbourne, Florida

Richard A. Mau of Melbourne, Florida passed away on August 5, 2026 at the age of 90, after a brief illness. He was born September 7, 1935. His parents were Frederick and Mildred (Glass) Mau of Bonfield, Illinois. A Philanthropist, his favorite charities were Saint Jude Children Cancer Research Hospital and Health First Foundation in Melbourne, Florida. He was a member of the Marine Corp Heritage Fountain. He enlisted in the Marine Corp in 1953 and served three years during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed at the former Marine Corp Air Station at Miami, Florida as an aircraft and engine mechanic. He attained the rank of Sergeant and received an Honorable Discharge. After earning his commercial pilots license he was employed by Eastern, National, Pan Am and Delta Airlines combined for a total of 42 years in Miami, Florida. He was an International Flight Engineer on the famous 747 Jumbo Jet with Pan Am. He participated in flying troops from Iraq and Tel Aviv during the first Gulf War and received from the Air Force a Certificate and Service Medal. One of his famous passengers that he had and met was Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta (now Kolkata), India. He traveled to 125 countries. After retiring and moving to Melbourne, Florida he bought his own airplane and had it for nine years. That completed a total of fifty-four years in aviation. He also had an antique log house on the Wolf Laurel golf (third hole) and ski resort at an altitude of 4,800 feet, 27 miles north of Asheville, North Carolina, where his family and friends gathered in the summers for 25 years. He married the former Jacqueline Cooper (deceased) in Miami, Florida in 1956 and was married for 60 years. They had a son, Fred, (deceased) of Melbourne, Florida, and have a daughter, Sandra (Mau) Stone of Brevard, NC, along with 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters. He also leaves his wife, Wen Wei, also of Melbourne, Florida (formerly of Shenzhen, China). Wen and Richard were married in April of 2026. He was preceded in death by his wife Jacqueline, his son Fred, sisters Virginia (Bernard) Fritz of Herscher, Illinois, Dorothy (Charles) Brown of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, his parents, and his two English Bulldogs. He will be laid to rest on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 10:30am at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Florida next to his wife Jacqueline. There will be a visitation on Wednesday August 12, 2026 from 5pm until 7pm at Brownlie-Maxwell Funeral Home in Melbourne, Florida.
