___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our PCN Flight West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. Read more about Ray Remick’s  vessel the M/V Monhegan  at
................Capt. Remick and his vessel have become well known to the coast since he renovated the former Maine State ferry William S. Silsby, originally built in 1959. ....................Captain Ray Remick, mariner, solicitous host, and entrepreneur, comes originally from the island for which the Monhegan is named. The unconventional nature of this latest venture of his comes as no surprise to people familiar with his earlier careers. He has been a rodeo trick rider in the old Boston Garden performing with the likes of Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, and Jock Mahoney. He was billed as Dusty Remick from Centennial Butte, Wyoming.  He has served in the Air Force and, like his father, flew as a pilot for Northeast Airlines working his way up from flight engineer. Northeast by no means confined itself to this part of the country and Remick flew regularly to St. Louis, Chicago, Las Vegas, and California. He retired at about the time the company, created by the Boston and Maine Railroad, merged with Delta in the ’90s.  While still flying, he built, owned, and operated the Masthead Marina in Warwick, Rhode Island. The business occupied 22 acres, offered 660 slips, indoor storage for 30 boats, and provided a ship’s store and restaurant for its customers. It even had its own Coast Guard Flotilla. Remick notes that although his operation was tiny by Florida standards, it provided more facilities than the present marinas of Rockland, Camden, and Rockport combined. He sold the business in 1987 and eventually returned to the midcoast............................
