Robert W. Kitchen,  76, formerly of Lincoln and McCook, Neb., passed away on October 19, 2015 in Franklin, Tenn.   Former USAF Pilot, retired PanAm/Delta airline pilot, loving father and husband. Funeral Service at 12:00 noon, on Thurs., Oct. 22, at Wyuka Funeral Home Chapel, 3600 “O” St, Lincoln.  Burial to follow with Military Honors, Wyuka Cemetery.

Douglas Lee Eye, 64, of Stockbridge, died Thursday, October 15, 2015 at home, surrounded by loved ones. Doug was a 1969 graduate of Belleville High School and went on to study dairy science at Michigan State University, where he was a recipient of the Michigan Memorial Dairy Scholarship. He served in the United States Air Force for 10 years and flew B-52s and KC-135s, which led to a successful career of more than 25 years as a pilot for Northwest and Delta Airlines. He was a part of the Saline community for many years; while residing there, he was a valued member of the Friends of the Saline District Library and was active in Saline Area Youth Baseball and Softball. Doug's lifelong dream of farming was realized when he and his wife moved to Stockbridge; for more than 10 years they enjoyed the agrarian lifestyle and delighted in sharing the farm with friends and family, especially their beloved grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stelman and Della Eye, brother Dennis Sohn, daughter Christen Merte, and loyal schnauzer, Mosby. He is survived by his wife, Linda Livingstone; his children, Maureen (Kevin) Krause, Sean (Kirstin) Eye, Barry Eye, and Laura (Justin) Walsh; five grandchildren: Brendan, Natalie, and Lacey Krause, and Liam and Drew Eye; a brother, Tim (JoElin) Eye; his former wife, Linda Broslavick Eye; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend their thanks to Dr. John C. Krauss and his team at University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center for their exceptional care. Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of Doug's life will be held in Stockbridge at a future date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Dairy Memorial Scholarship. Martha 'Marty' Rose 

January 14, 1935 - August 5, 2014

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated in Santa Cruz for longtime Santa Cruz County resident Martha Rose, who passed away peacefully at her Scotts Valley home. Born in San Francisco, she was 79 years old. Marty, as she was affectionately known to her friends and loved ones, attended Sacred Heart Preparatory School in Menlo Park, and graduated from San Francisco College for Women earning her Degree in teaching. Her family will forever cherish the stories of Marty as a young woman living in San Francisco. She was gifted with a vibrant and outgoing personality, and while attending college, worked as a fashion model. Marty moved to the Santa Cruz area 40 years ago, residing for 24 years in Pasatiempo, and for the last 16 years in Scotts Valley. She was an avid golfer and skilled tennis player while a resident of Pasatiempo. She leaves a host of loving friends and extended family in the teaching community and many organizations that she volunteered her time with.
Marty taught elementary school with San Jose Unified Schools; later with Santa Cruz Unified Schools and as the 4th grade teacher at Holy Cross School in Santa Cruz with a career spanning over 25 years. She volunteered for many nonprofit organizations including Holidaisy, and Dragon Slayers, an organization that offers free animal therapy to the disabled community.
Marty was a talented artist working with both oils and water colors, creating beautiful nature settings. She had a green thumb for all types of flowers and produce which she enjoyed sharing with her family and neighbors. She attended Holy Cross Church and San Agustin Catholic Church in Scotts Valley. The devotion she had to her family, most recently in following all of her grandson's baseball, football and basketball games, regardless of the travel time and location, was another example of her love.
She leaves her beloved daughter and precious grandson, Christine Jensen and Ryan Austin Jensen of Salinas, her brother, Charles Wilson of Clovis, CA; and her cousins, Nancy Martin and Lloyd Free.

Walter C. 'Chuck' Rose
A celebration of the life of Walter Charles (Chuck) Rose was held privately, according to his wishes. Mr. Rose died at home after a lengthy illness. He was 59. A native of Big Spring, Texas, Mr. Rose lived in California for the past 35 years. He moved with his family to Santa Cruz in the early 1970s. He was a member of the Pasatiempo Golf Club, where he served on the Board of Directors and enjoyed golfing with his many wonderful friends. Chuck served with distinction in the United States Navy for 10 years as a pilot, after which he flew as a commercial pilot for 27 years, first for Western Airlines, then with Delta Airlines. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Marty Rose of Santa Cruz; daughter, Christine Rose of Monterey; two brothers, Dennis Rose of Fort Worth, Texas and Bill Rose of Dallas, Texas; a sister. Norma of Dallas; one niece, Sharon; and four nephews, Larry, Daryl, Dennis and Ralph. Chuck will be held in the hearts of his family forever. May he rest in peace.

.............Sad to forward the death announcement of retired ATL DL Captain Theodore Studley, Jr., 78, one of my USAF pilot training classmates (of which 21 ultimately came to DL).   Ted was born 2/25/1937 and hired by DL 11/30/1964................... initially based in New Orleans until they closed the base then in ATL until his retirement.  After retirement he and his wife Mina moved to Niceville, Florida and live at 1226 Lakeshore Drive, N., Niceville, FL 32578, email  < mina.studley@yahoo.com >.  Ted had Alzheimer's Disease and had been in a nursing home for the past couple years..........................

With great sadness do I pass on the death notice of our classmate and good friend Ted Studley.  The following tribute was prepared by Ted's longtime friend, classmate and racing partner....... 

We have learned of the passing of my good friend, 61-Delta Classmate Theodore "Ted" Studley (Captain Delta Air Lines, Ret)

  

Ted trained with 61-Delta at Bainbridge AB, GA, and earned his USAF Pilot's Wings at Vance AFB, OK.

Ted Studley

Captain Ted Studley passed away October 10, 2015 at the age of 78 years.
Following a USAF assignment as a B-47 pilot with the Strategic Air Command (SAC), Ted flew with Delta Air Lines.
He retired as the Delta Captain with the highest number of flight hours in the Delta DC-8 Aircraft.
After retiring from Delta, Ted pursued his dream of auto racing. His goal was to race in all 48 contiguous states.
He succeeded in winning a track championship at the Anderson South Carolina Motor Speedway.
Ted actively raced until Alzheimers took its toll.

Our condolences, thoughts, and prayers are with Mina and the family.

Richard Alan “Al” Parry, 73, of Quakertown, died Wed. June 24th at Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia. He was the husband of Nancy (Bowdler) Parry.

 

Born in Zanesville, OH, he was a son of the late Richard Andrew Parry and Eloise (Clapper) Carpenter. He graduated from Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, OH.

 

During the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Air Force as a B-52 pilot.

 

Al was a commercial airline pilot for 31 years with Eastern Airlines and Northwest Airlines prior to his retirement in 2002. Following that, he and his wife Nancy enjoyed many years of RV travel throughout the US and Canada.

 

He enjoyed many hobbies and was a member of the American Association of Woodturners, the Lehigh Valley Woodturners and the Gulf Coast Mineral, Fossil and Gem Club.

 

Al was also a member of Quakertown United Methodist Church and served on the Endowment Committee.

 

Surviving with his wife are his son Richard Parry, wife Maureen of Harleysville and daughter, Stacey Parry France of Mount Airy, MD; grandchildren, Jake, Maddie, Emma and Richie; brother, John D. Carpenter, wife Pam of Birmingham, AL. He was predeceased by a daughter, Carole Ann Parry and a sister, Marie A. Spinks.

 

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 30th at Quakertown United Methodist Church, 1875 Freier Rd., Quakertown. Friends may call from 9:30-11:00 AM at the church.
