Obituary : Lt. Col. Harold Moultrie "Bubba" Edwards, Jr., USAF (Ret.)

October 17, 1946 - April 10, 2023

Harold Moultrie “Bubba” Edwards, Jr. ended his battle with cancer and flew into the arms of his

Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, April 10, 2023.

Bubba was born in Charleston, South Carolina in the fall of 1946. He was a self-proclaimed “son”

Of James Island where he was raised and graduated from Bishop England High School. While in

high school, Bubba enlisted in the US Navy Reserves where he first began to feel a sense of duty

to serve his country through the armed forces.

Bubba continued his education at The University of Mississippi, where he also continued to serve

in the Navy until his graduation in 1969. Upon his graduation from Ole Miss, Bubba felt

compelled to further serve his country, this time as an officer in the United States Air Force.

Bubba proudly served within the Air Force for 20 years, eventually retiring as a Lt. Colonel in

1989. As an Air Force Vietnam veteran, Bubba served in the Pentagon, Special Operations, and

as the 41st Squadron Commander at Charleston Air Force Base. Bubba’s love for flying

continued until his retirement from Northwest Airlines in 2006.

Bubba’s world travels with the Air Force eventually led him to Warner Robins, Georgia where he

Met the love of his life while serving at Robins Air Force Base. Bubba married Sue Smith Edwards

in June of 1976, and together they traveled the country raising their family until his Air Force

retirement led the family to their permanent home in Warner Robins.

As a citizen of Houston County, Bubba’s devotion to service continued to reveal itself through his

work as the Mayor of Centerville, an active member of the Centerville Rotary Club, and member

of Central Baptist Church and later Houston Lake Presbyterian Church. When he decided the

time had come to retire completely, Bubba and Sue moved to Jackson Lake in Jasper County

where they spent their golden years making beautiful memories with their children and

grandchildren.

Bubba was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Moultrie (Mabel) Edwards, Sr.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Sue Smith Edwards; son, Harold Moultrie (Ariela)

Edwards, III; daughters, Christianna (Matthew) Coffing and Amelia (Zach) Vietri; grandchildren:

Aaron (Rebecca) Edwards, James Coffing, Anne Coffing, Julianna Vietri, Lawton Vietri, and

Poppy Vietri; his sisters, Joan Edwards McCormick and Pamela Edwards Bingham; as well as

numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, 2023, in the chapel of McCullough

Funeral Home with visitation at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Bubba will be laid to rest with full

military honors on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Beaufort National Cemetery at 10:00 a.m.

Notice of passing…retired Delta Air Lines pilot/instructor Michael “Mike” Gene Harr, age of 76.  Captain Harr joined Delta Air Lines 02-08-1973 and was based Atlanta.  Widowed in 2013 with the passing of his wife Carolyn, Mike is survived by his children, and by his parents and a sibling Craig.

MICHAEL HARR OBITUARY

Michael Gene Harr died at the age of 76 on March 27th.

 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 6th at the First United Methodist Church with a visitation at 1:00 PM with a service to follow at 2:00PM.

 

Michael Gene Harr was born on June 16th, 1946 in Griffin, Georgia. He attended Roosevelt High School and Central Missouri State College. He served in the Marine Corps and worked as a Delta Air Lines pilot and aeronautics instructor at the Naval Air Station Pensacola.

 

Michael Gene Harr is survived by his daughter Meredith Doyen, son-in-law Tommy Doyen, son Matt Harr, and son-in-law Andy Gish. Preceding him in death are his spouse Carolyn, father Raymond Harr, mother Rozella Harr, and brother Craig Harr.

Carolyn Sims Harr of Griffin, Georgia passed away on March 20, 2013 from complications due to liver cancer, surrounded by her friends and family, she was 68 years old.
Born in Mexico, Missouri to Jennie Pearl and the late Charles Fred Sims, Carolyn went on to graduate from Central Missouri State with a BA in English in 1967 and spent a brief period as a teacher until she married her college sweetheart, Mike, later that year. Choosing to leave her profession of teaching, Carolyn became a homemaker and mother to two children………………

Henry H. Gyllenblad of Eden Prairie, MN passed away at his home on April 3 at the age of 87. Henry was born on October 14, 1935 in St. Paul, MN to Henry and Helen Gyllenblad. Hank was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a member and usher at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Vicotria. As his wife Vivan said- Hank had a pretty great life. Hank loved flying. He mowed yards, shoveled snow, and worked at his family bakery to pay for flight time. He started flying at age 15. At age 17 Henry had his private pilot license and at 19 his commercial pilot license. Hank worked and was mentored at the Brandt Aero Service at Holmen Field through college.

While attending Macalester College, Hank started a flying club and taught flying and graduated in 3-1/2 years with a Business Degree. He joined the National Guard from 1953 until 1962. In 1957, Henry was hired at North Central Airlines at 21 years old and was a Captain by age 22. Hank was a MAC Council Chairman and retired from Northwest Airlines as the #2 pilot in seniority with 38 years and over 37,000 hours of flying time.

Hank was a Past Potentate for Zuhrah ShrineTemple, a Master Mason, a Jester, Legion of Honor member, and 33 Degree recipient for Scotish Rite.

Hank was preceded by wife, Nancy Gyllenblad; sister, Gail Wright; brother John Gyllenblad. Survived by wife, Vivian Alexander; daughter, Kristi Gyllenblad; son, Kevin (Christine) Gyllenblad; grandchildren, Stephanie and Austin Honn, Eric and Nicholas Gyllenblad; sister, Beverly Mundt. Hank was also loved by Vivan's daughters and husbands, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Visitation and Services will be Friday, April 21, 2023 at Minneapolis Scottish Rite 2011 Dupont Avenue South, Minneapolis. Visitation 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, Masonic Service 1:00 followed by Church Service.

In lieu of flowers; please consider the Shriner's Hospital Twin Cities or Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church. "To fly west, my friend, is a flight we all must take for a final check." Author unknown.

Michael Leo Fogarty, age 82 of Belle Plaine passed away on April 3, 2023,

surrounded by family at Mayo Hospital in Mankato.

Mike was the eldest of 8 children, born on April 8, 1940, at St. Mary’s Hospital

in Minneapolis to Michael T. and Edna (Kelly) Fogarty. He grew up on a farm

south of Belle Plaine and attended country school and graduated from Belle

Plaine High School in 1957. He married Shirley Druke on July 21, 1962, at St

Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Belle Plaine and raised 5 children.

Mike was very involved in his community. He was an accomplished flight

instructor and taught many friends and acquaintances to fly. He flew power

line patrol for Nelson Ryan. He was a volunteer fireman, an elected City

Council member and served as Interim Mayor of Belle Plaine. He belonged to

the Knights of Columbus and Ancient Order of Hibernians. Much time spent at

Pioneer Power, showing off his 1940 Farmall “B”. His love for traveling took

them on many 5th wheel adventures throughout the United States. Mike and

Shirley were “Super Fans” of all Grand children’s activities and were frequent

flyers at any and all sporting events.

He started his commercial Airline Pilot career with North Central Airlines in

1967, where he was a pilot for 33 years and through multiple airline mergers

retired with Northwest Airlines (Delta). During his career he started flying the

Convair CV-580 and retired on the Boeing 747 during which he knew how to

fly every plane in between.

He taught us to live life to the fullest. Mike and Shirley took full advantage of

what the Airline Career offered. They had wonderful adventures and lived in

many cities over their 60+ years of marriage.

Mike is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Michael J. (Karen) Fogarty,

Eden Prairie, Rochelle (Bob) Nielsen, Green Isle, Jeffrey Fogarty (friend, Anita

Ernst), Belle Plaine, Stephanie (Doug), Fogarty-DeBlois, Arlington and Matt

(Melanie) Fogarty, Belle Plaine; 20 grandchildren; Amy (Zac) Giammarrusco,

Caitlin (Dustin) Halbert, Whitney (Jack) Fogarty, Mason Groth, Michael Groth,

Sydney (Steven) Fogarty Busch, Cassie (Nick) Lind, Taylor (Jake) Behnke,

Shayla (Chad) Bohn, Chelsey (Josh) Johnson, Jordan (Cameron) Fogarty,

Faith (JB) Woodman, Alec (Alex) Fogarty Hentges, Chase (Stephanie)

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Christy (Chandra) Uslan.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2023, at Kolden Funeral

Home in Belle Plaine MN, and 1 hour prior to mass, Tuesday morning, April,

18, at the church from 9:30 -10:30 a.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 10:30 a.m.

at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine, MN. Fr. Michael

Kaluza and Fr. Roger Hessian will officiate. Interment will be at Sacred Heart

Cemetery, Belle Plaine, MN.

Peter Crane, 86, passed away March 28, 2023 in Arizona.

 

Peter went to Shady Side Academy and Graduated from Dartmouth College. He joined the US Navy & was a naval aviator for 9 years. Peter flew off the USS Midway and the USS Coral Sea. He then became a test pilot on the F4 Phantom at McDonnell Douglas in St Louis, MO. He was a pilot for Northwest Airlines for 30 years before he retired at 60. He lived/flew out of Minneapolis, Seattle and Honolulu. He enjoyed retirement being a golf ranger at Club West.

 

He married Shirley in Bourbon, MO. They were married for 66years.

 

He enjoyed playing tennis, racquetball, golfing, traveling and playing with his grand-kids and great grand kids.

 

Survived by wife Shirley Crane, son Kenneth Crane(JoAnn Crane), daughter Debbie Kapitan, grandchildren, Jourdan Kroll(Marc), Kate Wermerskirchen(Kory), Kohl Kapitan, Dana Morel, Great grandchilren, Michael Rodriquez, Richard Rodriquez, Charlotte Kroll, Skylar Kroll, Wesley Kroll, Jensen Kroll, Bennett Wermerskirchen and Brooks Wermerskirchen. Brothers Jay Crane and Dick Crane(Marianne).

 

Preceded in death by his parents Wilbur Warner Crane and Margaret Crane(Van Nest) and sister in law Mary Ann Crane.
